nizo's Journal: Toshiba: cue tacky elevator music

I love trying to communicate "albuquerque" to some poor sap over the phone in India. No really I do. 'A' as in apple, 'L' as in, umm..... I could practically hear the guy cry when I first said the name. This was especially nice after waiting on hold and getting transferred around several times while listening to static-filled elevator music. I wonder if he could hear me grinding my teeth? Heck I should call in every day for this experience. "No nothing is wrong, I just love listening to the music" Ok I have to go clean up the clumps of hair scattered around my desk/office now....

I had similar hair-pulling experiences with Dell a couple years back. Then I noticed the "chat with a live agent" feature. It was easily 100x easier to deal with their Indian call center. In both instances, I had exchanges for Axim PDA's accomplished in under 5 minutes.

I dug and dug looking for either live chat or email, but there is none to be found. I HAD to call on the phone. Personally I would have preferred email, because it beats spelling addresses and RMA numbers over the phone, but they didn't offer it anywhere.

Like why some people can't just used Google. I'll admit I can't spell 'Albuquerque' straight out of the gate, but I've learned to deal with these issues with my good friend (and admitted online crutch) Google:

Searched for 'alberqurque'; Did you mean: albuquerque; Why yes I did, thank you!

I can never remember the official code, so I just use proper first names: Albert, Bruce, Charlie, David, Edward, Frank, George.... Where it gets a little weird is with the unusual letters: Q = Quincy, U = Ursula, X = Xavier, and Z = Zed.

Albuquerque = Albert, Leonard, Bruce, Ursula, Quincy, Ursula, Edward, Roger, Quincy, Ursula, Edward.

Yeah, I'd be inclined to ask for an email address so I could email the result in.... ;-)
