johndiii's Journal: How to express this

I often think of the words that Tolkien used:

...But long ago, he rode away,
And where he dwelleth, none can say...

Today did not start great, and has not gotten much better. I need to express this. So, for blue:

I did not know you well, it seems
I can't relate your life
Your dreams
I do not know the pain you felt
Or how your life became a curse.

But I did know your eyes' warm intensity
Your will, your smile
I know the words you left behind.

You walk in places we do not see
I pray you find there
What eluded you here.

Not particularly good, but there you go. It didn't work in prose.

Thanks. It felt very inadequate at the time, but it did capture what I was feeling.

I didn't realize what it was for...it sounded like somebody had died, but I wasn't sure.

I think I'll read it to my daughter. Her father died about 2 weeks ago. He was quite young, only 43, and he had a seizure, brought on by years of drug and alcohol abuse, due to mental illness. I think she'll be able to relate to it.

I had just talked to blue a couple of days before, and she really sounded good. It was a shock.

How old is your daughter? I was 14 when my father was 43, and it would have been really bad for me. I hope that it helps her.
