Journal Journal: Posting Blocked - Three Updates, Ban's Gone 1

Well, it looks like I can't post because of too many negative moderations that were done by some people who don't like what I have to say. It's been happening for a while and it finally seems that they got their way...

But we'll see if we can't get this little hitch taken care of. If this journal post is indeed successful, I'll write responses by editing this entry.

Updates:

Response to Mantorp: It doesn't involve all of them, but whatever ones that are available at the time they try to mod me down. Take a look at most of my recent posts, most of them have overrated moderation. I think that they might use offtopic sometimes as well, but for the most part they use overrated. These moderations all happen within seconds/minutes of each other. They've done this for months now, with the effects only sometimes knocking me down in karma until now. I can still post and edit journals and vote in polls however.

Message to mirko: Hey mirko, I just noticed that you were in a similar situation. Seeing how we can't post to each other's journals, I'll just use this method. So, how's it going over there?

Ban update: Wow, that posting ban was really short. I guess they weren't lying when they said temporary.

Journal Journal: Hopefully This Title Won't Get Changed... 2

Well, turns out I ended up getting a story on the main page, entitled The Politics of the Video Game. However, that was not the one I chose for the story. The title I came up with was Are Politics in Video Games Plaguing Your Brain? The title that michael gave my article was the same as the linked article's subtitle.

I'm just curious, is it pretty standard for an editor to change the title of your article around here?

Journal Journal: Angry Mod 10

Wow, somebody's hitting up my comments. They went through certain recent posts of mine and started downmodding them on a few, using the overrated qualifier. I noticed it happening while they were working on it. It affected around three to four posts.

Well, to whomever might be doing it, have fun. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

But, if you're going to do something, do it right. You were slower than shit modding me down. It took you like 10 minutes between each post! What's wrong with you? It doesn't bother me that you're trying to mod a bunch of my posts down (why you would want to, I don't know), but it does bother me that you can't do it properly...

numbnuts.

Journal Journal: Your $rtbl Story 5

Well, as I've been browsing around it seems that more and more people are dealing with the same situation that I am. A lot of those mods love to hammer people with opinions different than the majority with the $rtbl.

So, if you've had experiences with the $rtbl, or just feel like talking about it, you might as well do it in my journal. It's as good of a place as any, really.

Journal Journal: Have I Been $rtbl'd? EDIT: It Seems So... 3

Well, despite having excellent karma at the time of this post, I can't get any +1 posting bonus. Ever since I've enabled reporting of metamoderation results (not long after I was able to metamoderate), no results have been shown. I've never been able to moderate, yet I haven't been posting anywhere below neutral for quite some time.

I haven't peered into Slashcode, but I have heard a little about the $rtbl ordeal. Considering what's been going on with my account, does it seem like a moderator has used the $rtbl tag on me? If not, what else might be going on?

EDIT: It looks like I have been $rtbl'd, many posts with excellent karma and still no bonus. And, absolutely no messages are being shown, not even comment moderation.

Journal Journal: Yet Another Example of Bad Moderations 10

Another day, another terrible moderation.

This post ended up getting modded as flamebait. I guess this is one of those examples of how opinions are sometimes considered wrong around here.

Man, as long as I keep posting here, I'll probably never run out of things to bitch about in my journal.

Journal Journal: Time to Fix the Moderation System, Davey 10

Lately, every post that I have made that ends up getting a score of five has been moderated down with the qualifier of overrated. I've felt this way for a while, but the overrated qualifier should be done away with.

In fairness, the underrated qualifier should go to. I think that if you are going to moderate a post, you should have a good reason.

If you want to see an odd "overrated" moderation, read my comment But of Course! in reply to the story Ban on Internet Access Tax Dies in Senate. 50% interesting + 20% informative + 20% overrated doesn't quite add up.

Also, the funny qualifier is still fucked. They won't give you any positive karma for it, but as soon as you get modded down, even if it is from a five to a four, you can end up with a worse karma rating. I've stated my disdain for the rules on being funny before, but it's getting damn annoying, so I figured that I'd show my disapproval again.

Well, what does CmdrTaco think about being funny? Here's a quote from the Slashdot FAQ under Comments and Moderation. "You have to be smart, not just a smart-ass." Well, first off, you don't seem to have a problem being a smart ass, CmdrTaco. But, don't you have to be smart to be a smart-ass? Just as you have to be stupid to be a stupid-ass? Being funny shouldn't be such a bad thing.

The overrated and funny qualifier problems aren't the only problems with the system. here's the biggest change that I want to see to the moderation system. How about the powers that be quit letting these damn moderators hide behind this veil of secrecy by showing who gives us what score? Personally, I would like to see if whoever has been giving me out overrated scores is just a single prick with an agenda or multiple people whom I still wouldn't think too much of. If I think the moderators fucked up, I would like to at least know who they are and maybe even tell them that they fucked up. It should come with the territory of being a moderator to be able to defend your choices.

Well, that's all I have to comment on for now. Thanks go out to mirko and his journal post on the same subject for reminding me to say something about the moderation problems. Let me know what you people think.

Journal Journal: Fuck Slashdot 15

Wow, leftist assholes (not claiming that all of you are assholes, now) who don't want to argue their opinion like to downmod you just because they disagree with you. I don't care where you stand in the political realm, do you really think it's fair that you get shut out of a conversation because you disagree with the Slashdot status quo? To see why I'm pissed, read my "Howard Dean's a pussy." Now, Slashdot won't let me comment anymore today because of their fucked up Karma model, but yet Anonymous Cowards post all that they want to. What do you think?

Journal Journal: Stupid system 2

I'm forced to post at -1 because of making posts moderated as Funny. Thanks Slashdot! Is anybody else in the same position?
