Journal drinkypoo's Journal: Oklahoma not OK with Bailouts 3
On Monday, Oklahoma House members approved House Concurrent Resolution 1028, "Claiming sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the United States Constitution". Unlike House Joint Resolution 1003 which was vetoed by State Gov. Brad Henry on April 27th, House Concurrent Resolution 1028 does not need the governor's approval. The resolutions' author, Rep. Charles Key, (R-Oklahoma City) said many federal laws violate the 10th Amendment. Empty gesture, or first step to secession?
First step (Score:2)
To get any *real* sovereignty, they need to start a petition for a new Amendment to repeal the tariff and currency clauses of Article I Section 10. Until then, the destiny of any state will depend on the whim of the World Trade Organization, FED and New York city bankers. These three groups hold a defacto oligarchial dictatorship over all 50 of our supposedly separate and sovereign economies, and until they are gone, democracy is impossible.
i can only hope. (Score:1)

Back to issue, I believe a push to restrict federal powers only to what they are required of is a great idea. If a state can't afford it they don't need it. If _you_ want it, move. Disclaimer: I live in a small US state that would stand a lot to lose, but I think it would be an ok thing.
