Journal cyranoVR's Journal: LOL @ Daily Show Covering JimJeffGate PLUS Myth vs. Fact 43

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart | ~Blog~ Cabin Republicans

MYTH: Huh? Jeff Gannon is a non-story.

FACT: Just like Alexandra Polier was a non-story?
Just like Golan Cipel was a non-story? Just like Donna Rice was a non-story?

Just like "a yet unknown White House intern" was a non-story?

But don't take my word for it: William F. Buckley, Jr. | Screw and Be Screwed.

And, unlike all those newsworthy examples, JimJeff acutally broke Federal Law by exposing the identity of a CIA informant.

MYTH: Those Dimocraps are being hypocrites! How dare they pry into JimJeff's private life!!11one

FACT: ~Nothing~ about JimJeff's career as a manwhore was private. All the salacious details were found by googling up PUBLIC web sites (oops!). This indicates either that JimJeff was incredibly stupid or that he wanted to be found (both?).

But let's play make believe for a second: even *if* the details of his manwhore double-life were private (as were, say, the details of a recent President's personal affair), would that make a difference? After all..

The GOP is the one that rose gay-bashing and gay-baiting and sex-baiting to an art, and JeffJimGuckertGannon willingly joined the family values parade in print and in passion. They're trying to ban condoms, pornography, AIDS education. They take children away from gays, and want to make our very lives a crime. GOP Senators compare us to kleptomaniacs, alcoholics, and man-dog sex. And they can't even handle a bronze breast on a statue.

And we're the ones picking a fight over sex?

Spare me your sanctimonious bullshit now that the gay community and on the left have finally - finally - started to fight fire with fire by simply holding you to the very standards you legislate over us. We are simply giving the GOP the sex-less utopia it's always wanted. How does it feel?

Wrong again! The real hipocrytes here aren't the "Dimocraps"[sic], but those who promised to "restore moral integrity to the White House" (Read: no more blow jobs), and subsequently went out to get post-game prostate massages from "Bulldog." And then gave him Press Room credentials because he did such a good job.

Yes.

(Imagine that you worked for decades building your Journalism career - starting out as a copy editor, going to night school for your Masters, sitting behind a typewriter for hours - only have that pinhead Press Secretary pass you over for a dipshit with two weeks of "journalism" "experience" and a economy-sized bottle of Amyl Nitrate. But I digress...)

MYTH: There are no FACTS to indicate that this is anything deeper than JimJeff getting into the White House briefing room. Suck on that, baby eating Lib'ralz!

FACT: Oops, wrong again!

WAPO | Online Nude Photos Are Latest Chapter In Jeff Gannon Saga
... Gannon is also embroiled in the Valerie Plame story. In 2003 he interviewed Plame's husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson, after unnamed administration officials leaked her role as a CIA operative to columnist Robert Novak. According to his Talon News story, Gannon asked Wilson about "an internal government memo prepared by U.S. intelligence personnel [detailing] a meeting in early 2002 where your wife, a member of the agency for clandestine service working on Iraqi weapons issues, suggested that you could be sent to investigate the reports."
Full article...

Wow! And it was on Ganon's own Talon News site too!!!

Oops!

Of course, there a lot more details to be discovered. Fortunately, that's what special prosecutors are for!

MYTH: Ok, take off your tin-foil hat, buddy?

*AHEM* Maybe you want take a look in the mirror? Unlike the cocaine smuggling ring based out of the Little Rock airport OR the 40+ people that the Little Rock "drug lord" *giggle* had killed OR that a recent Presidential Candidate was part of a secret plot to topple the US Gov't for the Vietcong - this scandal is very much rooted in physical people, places and things - and *shudder* events!

See, the Grand Jury looking into the CIA operative matter knows this is serious stuff; that's why they've already subpoenaed JimJeff. I wonder if JimJeff will still be a "dominant top" when he's under oath? ROFL!!!1

MYTH: Those Lib'rals are getting desparate! WE got Dan Rather!!1

*SIGH* you found one possibly forged page out of hundreds of pages of REAL documents. Horray for you! Except that those REAL documents proved without a doubt that Georgie received undeserved special privleges and subsequently failed to fulfill his duty requirements.

Oops!

MYTH: (*faint whimpering*)

FACT: This is big. Real big. And it's only going to get worse for you fuckers.

Suck on it.

I don't recognize a single one of those.

Then again I don't read blogs, I only know about this Gannon thing because it has been getting so much coverage in /. journals.

I haven't even seen a TV in three weeks...

(how the hell is college making me more well rounded? I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!)

  • So what?
    Seriously.

Besides, it sounds like a private matter.
Can't we just move on with the business of this country?

He planted a gay, manwhore, softball questioning dude in the press corp?

And this is an issue why again?

AFAIK, this wasn't brought about during testimony stemming from an investigation supported by the Violence Against Women Act. He hasn't had sex with the dude. He hasn't lied about it before a Grand Jury and Congress. He hasn't suborned perjury about it or obstructed justice.

I don't see how this rises to the level of an impeachable offense.

    • Non-journalists getting into the White House press room and then writing under fake credentials after asking loaded and softball questions of the man currently sitting in the highest office of our nation is not a private matter.

Besides which, I think Mr. Clinton would like to speak with you a moment about private matters, as he seems to have a book here detailing an awful lot of them that he didn't really want published.

Just trying to be Fair and Balanced!
  • And then gave him Press Room credentials because he did such a good job.

Ludicrous oversimplification. From the Washington Post [washingtonpost.com],

But White House spokesman Scott McClellan says President Bush didn't know who Gannon was and that it's "nonsense" to suggest the president was trying to get a sympathetic question. Gannon got a day pass to the White House,

available to any journalist, commentator or blogger who writes for an audience. "I don't think it's the role of the press secretary to get into the business of

    • *AHEM* [salon.com]:

Hard passes to the White House are designed to give journalists who regularly cover the White House easy access: They simply swipe their credentials at the entrance while the Secret Service checks their bags. Day passes, which are picked up every day at the press office, are intended to provide flexibility for out-of-town journalists who might need to cover the White House for a day or two, or to allow White House reporters to bring in visitors who want to see the press briefings. But the current da

      • Yeah, I read that Salon article. I'm a subscriber, and I've been following the Gannon issue closely. If you read their quote carefully, you will realize that it does not refute my statement. Day passes are "intended" for out of town journalists. They are not "set up" for permanent access. However, that does not mean that they don't give day passes to every idiot fascist blogger that asks for one. That doesn't mean that anyone bent the rules for Guckert aside from Guckert himself, and it doesn't even mean th

There was a whopping inaccuracy in Gannon's question when he told Bush that "Harry Reid was talking about soup lines." Jim Manley, a spokesman for th

      • James Guckert is a despicable person. Among worse things, he's a liar and poor plaigerist. All that context doesn't change whether McClellan or anyone else bent rules for him.

I'd love it if they got mud all over their faces, but I don't see how to get there from here.
    • You missed one slight little item:

A man, using a fake name, was able to get access to the same room as the President. These day passes, post 9-11, are a major security concern and should be treated as such. If a gay prostitute can get in to see the President, so can a LIBERAL, or even a TERRORIST.

      P.S. Can the homophobic bullshit.

I've got this theory that there are three types of homophobes:

those who have been hurt or had a bad experience with a close family member who was gay.

Look at the Canadian correspondents who, after years of washington coverage, were unpopular with the current administration, and had their press privileges yanked while they underwent a "security review" that, in some cases, has taken years. No "day pass". Those things are not just given out casually, like candy, nor should they be. But you can imagine how pissed all legit journ
