A US Honda Ridgeline beeps incessantly. When the system detects road lines, when it loses road lines, when it detects a car in front, when it loses the car in front. There are times when it beeps and I have no idea why...

How can the claim copyright on reruns ? There hasn't been a "new" TV show in decades. They just reskin the same skits and call it new. This is about ensuring our corporate overlords get to keep squeezing the same fruit.

His guided cars have hit more things and screwed up traffic more than any other. What we need is a set of national Car2Car standards so these megalomaniac douche bags CEOs don't get to decide what is good enough. If done right, the only thing getting hit is the Darwin winners who J-walk.

Humans fuck those up also. It's just that traffic fortunately tends to be light during bad weather so that our screwups have limited impact. During the last heavy rain I drove in at night I probably made 10+ traffic violations because I couldn't see the damned lines. Fortunately there weren't a lot of other cars around to be co-confused with: the wise stayed home.

And if there is traffic in bad weather, such as work commutes, one just typically follows the person in front of them. If they by chance drove off a cliff I'd probably follow them down. So we have rules-of-thumb that mostly save us, but are highly imperfect.

I believe the goal has to be "better than humans" because humans seem to have a double standard for bots per screwups. Bots F-ing up spread like wildfire on social media.

Maybe we are collectively bigoted against automation, but being bots probably won't lobby to correct that or fight for their (alleged) rights, that's probably the way it will stay (at least until true sentience). Thus, I agree with the premise the driving system must be better than a human driver to be accepted.

Funny but the only game I own on Steam is the Doom/Doom2 full collection. It is 50 years old, gets new maps daily from many different dev's. I play on the free UZDoom engine which is as good as most today. I play the original BG and BG2 quite often, they are old as well. Beyond BG3 I've not found too many compelling new games. I use Steam for Demo's and to see what is new. I buy on GoG and Itch.
