we've not even seen a hint of AGI. I am sure the LLM's will get better and faster, but will they ever be intuitive ? They are already great at taking huge amounts of data and making direct connections. When they can include the mystery factor that is free-will matched with stupidity, we might have something to worry about. I am an old man now so I worry less for me than for my 14 year old nephew. Luckily he reads, and plays pen and paper RPG's.

If the toaster has good brownness and heat-bounce sensors, I'm not sure AI is needed: just turn up or down the heat cells where needed to keep it even. Statistical analysis may be needed to manage adjacent cells, but once the formulas are known via lab testing it should be predictable.

on my PC. I can't see it in Task Manager, but start getting "out of memory" errors after a couple of weeks and have to reboot. Restarting Firefox alone is insufficient to clear it. I suspect it has something to do with the graphics card rather than primary RAM, and could be co-caused with some other app.

that is actually the truth. We remove the "dangerous" elements to protect the rest. The problem lies when the worst distill into absolute anarchy. Do you believe in capital punishment ? That is truly the only way to remove the worst elements from society. While in theory I support it. I would not want to be the one deciding who gets the "final solution". Things like that seldom work out :(.

Only if we allow private equity to run for profit prisons. We tried it in Arizona. It went badly. The federal government now runs our prisons because our state legislators will not pay for or hire Dr's in prisons. We allowed a company to run them. They did, right into the ground and criminal proceedings.
