Journal Marxist Hacker 42's Journal: Ok, if Sam The Butcher can ask, so can I: Rapture vs Christ 8

Except for this is for whomever is still reading my journal who is in what I term 6th and 7th generation Protestantism: Evangelicals and minor Adventist and Witness cults of various flavors. How do you justify looking forward to the end times, and sometimes even predicting dates, hours, and times; with Christ's statement that we will not know the hour or the day (and thus should *always* be ready for any eventuality)?

There are two schools of thought regarding the end times - pre-tribulation rapture and post-tribulation rapture. The former mindset says we get taken up to Heaven before God pours out his wrath. The latter says that we are all going to be here for the whole thing, saved or not. Which is correct? It's a point that has been debated in theological circles for centuries, and both sides can be argued effectively. So, no one can say authoritatively which is

I feel the same way about those that assume they will be a part of the rapture. It's a bit of egotism to say that you will be a part of the rapture, the Bible says no one knows who will be taken, and specifically that those left behind will wonder what happened to those that were taken.

So, I just imagine some smug self-righteous Christian (note, this is not a crack against all Christians,

How hard can it be to reconcile a prediction of the end times with Christ's words that no one will know, when we've been told for centuries that Christ both is God and is not God, and that the bread and wine they serve at church becomes blood and flesh, even though it's clearly still blood and wine.
