I recently had to replace our old HP Laserjet printer that finally reached the end of its life. After a bunch of research, I opted for the Brother HL-L8240CDW. It does colour, double-sided printing, is fast (relative to the old printer) and we're really happy with it. I have it wired, but it does wireless as well (not tested).

We had it a few months now and no regrets so far.

All Wopke Hoekstra is doing is talking his way into the chair of Climate Chief, saying all the things the EU members want to hear.

In the Netherlands, he is not seen as reliable. There was this issue after the last elections, where the big parties claim to start a new style of government (without all the lies). Hoekstra was leader of the CDA, and sometime during the negotiations to form a government, there turned up a note saying "Omtzigt; position elsewhere". Omtzigt was a CDA politician as well, but a critical one and the people of the CDA didn't like him anymore.

Both Hoekstra (CDA) and Kaag (D66) said they knew nothing of that note and pointed their fingers towards Mark Rutte (VVD). Later it turned out all three knew about that note. So much for a new style of government ;)

By the way, Omtzigt started a new party (NSC) and in the polls for 22 November is around 15% of the voters, while the CDA is below 5%. That is how popular the CDA of Hoekstra is today.

I simply don't understand why people want to keep using RHEL distributions, when Red Hat doesn't want them as a user/customer anymore. That is simply setting yourself up for abuse.

There are 100s of distributions to choose from, why choose one that doesn't want you as a user? I simply don't understand this subbornness of people.

You could look into the phones from Fairphone or Volla, though I am not sure how far they are with running mainline kernels instead of Android kernels.
Sony Xperia phones can be rooted and unlocked as well, they are often used for Sailfish, a Finnish Linux distro, coming forth out of Nokia Meego.

VoLTE should come this year. It is coming to the Sony Xperia 10 II and III. Hopefully later more devices will be supported. Sailfish is moving slowly, but it is moving :)

I would think that Mediatek is big in low-end and mid-end. According to the report that is even growing. But the flagship market in the US is moving towards Apple phones with their own chips. That is cutting into the marketshare of Qualcom.

I wonder what the trend worldwide is, in many countries Android flagship phones are still being sold widely and Apple doesn't have the marketshare as in the US, I can imagine Qualcom having more marketshare worldwide.

It still unclear what will happen in the future. Will Apple pick up Cups development again, or do they leave it as it is? Will Michael Sweet keep on with this effort and will all Free Software projects have to switch from Cups to Xcs?
There is no rush for decisions, the current situation is fine, but in some years time something will have to happen.

I live in the Netherlands and get 5GB for 10 Euro a month. I don't need more that that. Please be aware that I would not opt-in to this service, I will happily pay 10 Euro. But I can imagine for someone on a small budget this can be important. You shave off every expense that you can.

If you so very much enjoyed the Nokia N9, did you ever consider the Jolla with Sailfish OS? It was made by the same people who worked at Nokia on Linux phones.

I very much enjoyed the Nokia N9, but bad battery life and no Whatsapp did it in for me. I then bought the Jolla 1 and am now using a Sony Xperia XA2 with Sailfish. I have been really happy with Sailfish these last 6 years. I enjoy a plain linux phone, ssh access with root, and a phone that I can trust.

In some senses I think the N9 was a bit better in regards to UI, but a phone with Sailfish does get system updates (nokia never bothered with that :) ). It also can run Android apps through Alien Dalvik. I am using Firefox and Whatsapp that way.

What the US wants in the Middle East is chaos. Those countries should never get on their feet, they would be too big of a powerblock. It is better to have some soldiers killed in Iraq and Syria, spend some billions in warfare, and have them sink and stay in chaos. The refugees can go to Europe, that fits right in with the plan. And the War Industrials in the US get to make a lot of money in the meantime.

About Venezuela, I would think the US just wants a different government, where the US can come in and take the oil in a powergrab. That storyline might actualy be about the oil.

And the company wants to bank the credits for future years when emissions rules get tougher -- especially if a Democrat beats President Donald Trump in 2020

Perhaps the reason we have a regulation-busting president is *because* the people are tired of having the government meddling in the fuel efficiency of automobiles (and everything else). "Government is not the answer to our problems; government *is* the problem."

Just let the industry work it out for itself. Regulations only make the problems worse. If they keep insisting on government meddling, the citizens will respond by continuing to elect regulation-busting leaders.
