Submission + - Big Pharma Slaps Down Google (charlotteobserver.com)

LS writes: What seems to be pretty big news is flying relatively low under the radar. Google has been slapped with a 500 million dollar fine by the US government for allowing Canadian companies to advertise pharmaceuticals to the US market. When did advertisers become responsible for content? Big pharma's lobbying power is really showing here.

Submission + - ICANN Approves Custom gTLDs (v3.co.uk)

LS writes: So it appears that ICANN has approved custom top level domains, so you could see domains such as phones.apple or printers.hp or resume.yournamehere. Scratch that last one — the new TLDs cost 185K USD and have massive documentation requirements. Looks like internet haves and have-nots are going to be further divided.
