Journal GeckoFood's Journal: [fun] Twirl-a-Squirrel: It works! 6
My wife and I have an anniversary coming up, so for our anniversary I got a Twirl-A-Squirrel for her bird feeder - she can't stand it that the squirrels will skip everything that she puts out for them and instead park themselves on the tray feeder. I was looking for something else and found this thing, and since it seemed to be a decent option for a reasonable price (not overly expensive but not cheap either), I ordered.
Yesterday it got tested with a real squirrel for the first time. My son saw it happen and was quite entertained. In summary, it works just like the video. Squirrel is not hurt but cannot stay on either.
Might have to get one for my mother now too.
UPDATE: Found a more lively video here.

Filthy tree rats. I'm not a big fan of the creatures.
We've had a few birds of prey move through the area in the last month or so. A hawk and a couple of owls. I've noticed a significant drop in the squirrel population.
Seeing an owl nab one of them off the bird feeder in the twilight is fairly impressive.
