  Gee, one of my friends had hip surgery* a few years back. She's now 25, and she'll probably need the other one replaced sometime in the next couple of years as well.
  (*damaged from chemotherapy to combat leukemia. Both hip joints f'ed up. One replaced, one to go)

Despite your backwards stating of the date, you're making me feel old. I remember 1976 quite well. It was unfeasibly hot. Although we've had hotter years since then in terms of outright temperature, 1976 was the longest sustained heatwave in my memory at least.
