which buffer-overflowed will use as a rationale to say he is the only remaining youngster here only to find out that there are some real tweeners about. I'm thinking a good 25% couldn't buy a drink at the bar and another 25% would need to find a babysitter. Drunken binge at Em's!;)
this december will be the first time i rent a car after turning 25 (may), so i won't have that charge any more... but it was never a charge, just a deposit (that was in PA, and the laws vary state by state)
Last time I rented a car (in May, in TN), there were only two rental companies that would even rent to people under 25. One was Enterprise, and I can't remember the other one. Both companies had a daily fee for under-25 drivers. Enterprise's fee was cheaper ($10/day), so I went with them. It was very definitely a fee, charged each day of the rental.
ugh... i didn't type what i was thinking. what i meant to say was each time i rented, it was never a fee for me... just a deposit that i got back when i returned the car
that last time i was in PA, the deposit was $250. i had the car for two days... took them just a few seconds to get that $250, but 3-4 days for them to give it back. argh
Yay for being able to rent a car without an "irresponsible young'un" surcharge!
Do they have that in places other than the United States? I seem to remember having no issues and not needing to put down an extra deposit when renting a car in Australia when I was 23. Not that it would have mattered, since the company was paying, anyway.:P
Oh, and I'm 27.
I don't think I look it, and I sure as hell don't act it!;)
I've decided to let the animal eat the plant. Plants are easier to reproduce and there are fewer potential complications in doing so. The plants don't have to like each other, there's no fear of inbreeding, and it's easier to ensure the survival of plants in the wild after a period of isolated nurturing.
I apparently wasn't done having fun in the womb and plooped into the world about 6 days later than expected. If had known I was being born in Hawaii, I probably would of come out early to enjoy the beaches.
I just saw The Weatherman last night. Melancholy, but very good, movie--good job by Cage & Caine. The previews (as expected) do not do it justice whatsoever.
Yeah, the legal party year and all that. I did the living from party to party thing for about two weeks in February, and realized very quickly that I didn't care for the group I was with or what I was doing.
Now, I'm just a broken old man, what with the constant back and leg pain (yep, I really should get some serious hip and spinal surgery).
Oddly, I don't find it creepy at all that I consider people that are my parents' age or older (sorry John) to be some of my good friends.
1972 -- it was a good year for rock'n'roll, and not much else that I know about.
When I got out of college I used to blow the people I worked with away by telling them that I was 5 when Elvis died. Now if I were to go out and get a job and tell people that, all the kids'd look at me and say, "WHO died?"
No problems, though. I've been waiting 10 years to be the age I am now. I am waiting to get my certificate of legitimacy in the mail now any day!! Any day now... yup...
1972 was the election covered by HST's "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail." An excellent book, and absolutely fascinating considering it covers, in pretty close detail, a 33-year old election.
