Comment Re:New COVID treatment discovery (Score 5, Insightful) 149

This is just wildly false information--and a very good example of the "societal problems" the FB exec was talking about. First and foremost, mRNA vaccines have been extremely successful and have saved hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of lives. There is strong statistical evidence of that. Immunity wanes and vaccines don't last forever, but it is absurd to claim they have been a failure. You are lying. You are a liar. Secondly, the "kitchen sink" approach doesn't work, because just throwing everything you can think of at a problem frequently makes things work. That's why medicine applies such a high bar of proof of efficacy (via blind trials, generally). Otherwise it's just witch-doctoring.

This is literally outlawing innovation in this space. Maybe that's okay--maybe the field is mature enough to start legislating standards like this, but that's a lot of 'maybe'.

Standardization is great, but we should all be terrified at the notion of politicians deciding on the direction of tech innovation.

Nuclear power is not completely stupid, but it is mostly stupid. It only looks smart if you ignore a whole lot of practical problems, like: the capital expenditure and time to bring a new plant online, the cost of disposal, the massive NIMBY problem, terrorism, extreme weather, and the fact that you only need one major accident to cause a huge uproar that shuts down all existing projects.

It's not going to happen, buddy. Sorry.

You are at far less risk than if you weren't vaccinated. PERIOD.

Say that consistently--and then feel free to properly understand and address all the concerns of the tier that isn't getting listened to. But don't indulge in fantasy conspiracy nonsense--seemingly because you're trying to show off how non-conformist you are. If you want to be a "truth-teller" then tell the actual truth, not cherry-picked facts presented in a misleading way.

Comment You're not telling the truth (Score 0) 417

It is a truism that "If you vaccinate 100% of the population any COVID death will be a vaccinated person.", and that's exactly what those articles show. However from this you draw the conclusion that "it's far from unreasonable to ask whether the vaccines are worth the risk"--and that is a cleverly worded lie designed to kill people.

The data shows that individuals have a much lower likelihood of dying (or having serious illness) if they are vaccinated vs. if they are unvaccinated. When you cherry-pick data and present it in an asinine way, then you lead a listener towards the opposite conclusion. Clearly you are doing this intentionally, probably because you just like being a contrarian. Whatever your reasons, you are killing people--and you are doing it knowingly, which makes you a psychopath and a terrible human being.
