Still, it is awfully suspicious that patent trolls seem to be significantly more successful in East Texas compared to other District Courts. Patent issues are Constitutionally a Federal issue, so there's no legal reason for this one court to consistently rule contrary to the Federal standard for patent infringement. Perhaps a higher court should hear an appeal from one of this court's patent infringement cases and make precedent whether they are really following the law or simply "legislating from the bench."

This paragraph does not make a lick of sense. The court in question is the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. It is a federal court hearing matters of federal patent law. And like all federal courts, its decisions are appealable to a Federal Court of Appeals. And since federal patent law is such a specialized area, Congress even gave us a special Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which hears all patent appeals and sets precedent. The CAFC has heard LOTS of cases from the Eastern District of Texas, and has reversed when they felt it was necessary.

Seriously, reading a patent thread on Slashdot is like watching a couple of MBAs argue heatedly about whether it's better to write Linux drivers in AJAX or SCSI.

No, actually that's completely wrong. ASCAP, BMI and SESAC collect performance royalties only, only in the United State, and only for songwriters. If you use popular music to draw customers into your bar (through a jukebox, etc) and realize increased profits as a result, it's ASCAP's job to make sure the federally mandated royalties are paid to the folks who wrote that music you're using to draw in customers. Furthermore, I've never had any trouble at all getting them on the phone. I don't know who you think you're helping by making up these ridiculous stories.

In Android, you can buy your music using the Amazon mp3 app. Standard format and non-DRM means even if Amazon stops selling music you still can use your files. You can also create a ring tone from your mp3s using the Ringdroid app. All on your phone. No need for any iTunes-like software for that. If you really need to connect it to a PC for file management... Windows Explorer? The SD card storage is mounted as a drive. No special drivers or proprietary software needed.

Another question in this thread:

Blizzard has noted that they allow the use of Cedega and Wine but will not provide technical support. They have worked with the Cedega developers on issues. And there's whispers that they have unofficially worked with Wine developers.

What does Blizzard get for these efforts? Are there insights to bugs / issues to the game client that aren't apparent on the supported platforms? Or is this just a fun side project that helps out a (presumably) smaller subset of fans / customers?

The rest of your 'argument' shows a lack of understanding in what science is and how the scientific method would show there is an outside force.

"But your logic of "ID is bad because it will accept a supernatural explanation (i.e., magic)" isn't sound."
Yes it is. The discussion is 'Should ID be taught in a science class?' the answer is No, becasue it isn't science.
