Clones that are born with the same DNA would not be the same person at the very least because they are born into a different context (i.e. hitler born today would unlikely be able to lead germany into genocide and world war). Also their life experiences will be completely different no matter what you do (GW Bush did not grow up with the internet, his clone would have to.....unless he lives in a jungle which would also alter the adult version of GW #2).

The issue is really whether one should be able to pre-select the DNA of their children.

Submission + - Visa and Mastercard suspend donations to Wikileaks (bbc.co.uk)

An anonymous reader writes: quoted from the BBC:
"Visa Europe has begun suspending payments to whistle-blowing website Wikileaks ahead of carrying out an investigation into the organization. It follows a similar move by rival payments processor Mastercard on Tuesday...A spokeswoman for Visa Europe said its investigation would determine the nature of Wikileaks' business, and "whether it contravenes Visa operating rules". She added that Visa Europe could not suspend payments to Wikileaks immediately, and that the process took a certain amount of time. Mastercard said in its statement that it was "in the process of working to suspend the acceptance of Mastercard cards on Wikileaks until the situation is resolved"."
So after the Citizen's United decision, it's free speech for corporations to donate however much they want to any organization, but corporations can decide when to forbid my right to freedom free speech?

Comment Better as add-on? (Score 1) 130

I think this is a pretty cool feature, allowing you to purchase a book or item based on seeing it on something you are reading (seems like most of them are the ISBN's in the sources).

I am however against the commercialization aspect of Wikipedia (especially since, like others have said, I doubt Wikipedia makes any money off of this due to its open nature).

Why not just create an add-on that does this across all web pages, similar to how skype lets you call any phone number on a web page, or g-mail identifies emails that are about shipments and posts a link to the tracking (though these are not themselves add-ons). If you could even further specify what types of things you are interested in getting info on (i.e. only books) it would be much less intrusive and subversive and less likely to turn away people.

Though maybe enough people wont care and this will be really profitable for amazon, even though they are shoving it down people's throats

Submission + - R.I.P. Leslie Neilsen (www.cbc.ca)

ArmchairGeneral writes: Beloved actor and comedian, Leslie Neilsen passed away today. He was 84. Probably best know for his roles in Airplane and The Naked Gun, but he could give life to any character.

Submission + - Leslie Nielsen, actor, dead at the age of 84.

camperdave writes: Leslie Nielsen, star of Forbidden Planet,The Poseidon Adventure and most famously for the Airplane! and Naked Gun comedies, has passed away at the age of 84. For the past twelve days he had been in hospital fighting a case of pneumonia. Nielsen has appeared in over 100 movies as well as numerous television shows, and is probably most remembered for his role as Lt. Frank Drebin in the Naked Gun films.
