And that $49 is a good price for a smart dimmer that can actually control non-smart lights electrically. However, that appears to be a liquidation price (since sold out), full priced at $70, which is around what other similar products cost, and because that type of product is a dime a dozen, there's nothing to make Brilliant's smart dimmer stand out.

Their control panels are the only interesting thing they make, and that's where we see a single-gang control panel costing $399, where they're competing with other smart touch screens where there are multiple options under $100, and even some at around $60.

Some of the more premium competing touchscreen wall switch designs are in the $150-200 price range, but that's still half the cost of Brilliant's offering, or less.

It's not the only thing. I prefer Android, but a lot of the charging ports on some of my phones got janky after a few years. Also, the batteries stopped working. Yes, you can get those fixed, but it's often easier to go ahead and upgrade instead of getting it fixed. My current phone is a Samsung that's probably been on the market for three or four years now. I paid extra for wireless charging, so I would have a way to charge it if the port went out on me.

My son used Apple phones for most of his phones. He was always complaining about the battery not holding a charge.

That's not even mentioning broken screens. I've been pretty good about not breaking them, but I have probably cracked two screens over the years.

When you buy ads, not every ad buy is going to work out. 22% isn't terrible if that is *all* it is. When I was doing Facebook ads it was 75% people clicking the 'contact us' button by mistake rather than interest. And we still paid because the quality of the other 25% was so good. Other forms of advertising are the same. We did Homeadvisor for a while and more than half of the leads were complete garbage. But with Homeadvisor you have to pay for each one and it was $20-40 per lead for our business. We stopped doing that but it was maybe 30% as effective as other forms of advertising, for some businesses it is worth casting the net. Most forms of advertising have an inherent amount of waste, whether it be bots, mismatch relevancy, sleazy ad platform payment structures, or otherwise. You get used to it because it's part of the business, some platforms more than others.

We need to be dealing with this now, or we are going to have to deal with a 105-year-old Mitch McConnell.

Even the US Army is testing an anti-aging drug right now:
