Adobe's $20 Billion Figma Deal Faces EU Antitrust Probe (bloomberg.com) 13

Adobe's proposed $20 billion takeover of design firm Figma risks a lengthy European Union probe after the bloc's antitrust watchdog warned of potential concerns over the deal. From a report: The European Commission said it had received requests from a number of national regulators to look into the deal, even though it falls below the normal revenue thresholds to warrant an EU-level review, according to a statement Wednesday. The agency said the deal could "significantly affect competition" in the market for interactive product design and whiteboarding software. It will now ask Adobe to notify the transaction as the companies can't go ahead with the deal without getting clearance from the EU.

  • How about Adobe instead put that $20 billion into making it easy to iterate the cycle of going from XD to app code and then back from app code to XD? Maybe even in the same UI collaboratively. You'd think it's easily solvable especially with templates.

    • But Figma would still be out there, and free. Adobe just wants one more competitor under their umbrella.

If they're worried about Adobe becoming too powerful in the market, they should let the deal go through. Adobe is overpaying an insane amount and this is going to be one of the worst deals since Yahoo bought Tumblr.

  • I'm still pissed about Adobe forcing a yearly subscription they wouldn't cancel that required giving them a dummy card in order to stop recurring charges. I wish them the worst of luck.

This has become standard practice for me since AOL did this scummy tactic. I keep a special debit card just for people that want subscriptions or autopay. When one of those bills come due I transfer exactly that amount onto the card. That way they can't take any more than I allow them to do.

When I want to quit a service. I call them up, cancel the service and then cancel the card. I have to transfer the services that I want to keep to a new card but that is just a little work now. I believe there

Indeed. Another company that used to do stellar engineering and had good business practices having gone all to crap. They will be dying slowly, like all giants, but I do not see them having a long-term future.

  • Figma is a âoedesign software firmâ not a âoedesign firmâ â" they donâ(TM)t produce designs

Good day to avoid cops. Crawl to work.
