PC/OpenSystems LLC
FreeThe Freespire Operating System (also known as the Linspire Operating System) is an open-source and free release of Linspire. It contains many of Linspire's software packages, with the exception of those that require a license for redistribution. Freespire can be redistributed as you like. Freespire requires a processor with x86_64 bits, 4 gb RAM and a minimum of 20 gb on the hard drive in order to run a basic environment. We recommend that users who wish to run emulation programs such as VMWare and VirtualBox have at least 6-8 gb of memory for optimal performance. NomadBSD, a persistent living system for USB flash drives that is based on FreeBSD®, is called NomadBSD. It is equipped with hardware detection and setup. It can be used as a desktop system, but it can also be used to recover data, test FreeBSD®, or for educational purposes. A 5GB USB flash drive can hold the images for both 32-bit and 64-bit computers. NomadBSD should run well on a system with a 1.2GHz CPU, 1G RAM, and a decent processor. BIOS and UEFI are both available for booting. We have changed the versioning scheme to FFfX YYYYMMDD. FF is the major two digit FreeBSD version and f is the minor one. X stands for ALPHA, BETA, RC, RC or RELEASE (R). The date is followed by the number. We can now provide images with different versions of FreeBSD using the new scheme.
