MyDefrag is a complimentary defragmentation tool compatible with all Windows versions starting from Windows 2000. However, it requires users to input commands through a script-based format. The MyDefragGUI simplifies this process significantly. It supports various Windows versions, including 2000, XP, Server 2003, MCE, Vista, X64, Server 2008, and 7. MyDefrag needs to perform a comprehensive scan of all files on the disk to identify fragmentation and their respective locations. Currently, it relies on inefficient Microsoft APIs, but there are plans to enhance performance by reading directly from the MFT and FAT in future updates, which would significantly improve its efficiency.
