Description

We aimed to explore the extensive capabilities of the time-tested 10G networking when paired with a cutting-edge CPU. The CCR2116-12G-4S+ empowers users to bypass any CPU constraints in their configurations. Similar to its impressive sibling, the CCR2004, this router is equipped with the formidable Amazon Annapurna Labs Alpine CPU. However, with its 16 cores clocked at 2 GHz, the CCR2116-12G-4S+ significantly outperforms the CCR2004. For instance, we observe a minimum of a 15% boost in single-core performance, which is crucial for demanding tasks that rely on per-connection processing, such as managing queues. This router establishes a new benchmark for single-core performance within the entire CCR lineup! Additionally, it features Layer 3 Hardware Offloading support. Naturally, to tap into this immense power, the right connectivity is essential. The device includes four 10G SFP+ ports, each linked to a dedicated, full-duplex line that connects to the Marvell Aldrin family switch chip. Furthermore, it boasts 12 Gigabit Ethernet ports, all managed through the Marvell chip, enhancing its connectivity options. Overall, the CCR2116-12G-4S+ not only showcases exceptional processing capabilities but also provides robust connectivity features.
