Journal smittyoneeach's Journal: Ann Althouse is just fascinated by Benghazi 16

http://www.althouse.blogspot.com/2013/02/why-did-white-house-deceive-us-after.html
To answer her "Why did the White House deceive us?" question, my working assumption is that, for these megalomaniacs, truth is an historical artifact, and the people they claim to serve are just a vast side of beef to them.
This is not necessarily a partisan issue; and the real, dispassionate question to address is how we recover from these decades of collapse into an overly muscular Federal government.
Be prepared to run the SOTU speech backwards to find out what's really being said.

  • Sure is fun to watch.

    • Untrue.
      a) There is an order of magnitude of difference in the corruption in question.
      b) I'm not interested in just flipping things 'round, and seeing a Progressive Republican crank up the corruption another order of magnitude.
Rather, it's time to clean us some house, and go after both wings of the Progressive Ruling Class.
      • There is an order of magnitude of difference in the corruption in question.

No, there isn't, regardless of your insistence otherwise. We can all trace equal and worse corruption going back 30 years. And there's plenty more before all that. Sorry, your 'epiphany' is still as phony as a three dollar bill. A 'progressive ruling class' is certainly no worse than any other type of ruling class.

        • Sorry, your 'epiphany' is still as phony as a three dollar bill.

Well, I don't give you the benefit of the doubt, either, so somehow we're equal.

  • Hide and obfuscate. Produce "limited hangout".

Do not reveal extent of CIA station or mission.

    • Your apparent tinfoil hat is quite likely a fedora in this case.

Glen Doherty, one of the former Navy SEALs who was killed in the Benghazi terrorist attack, was working in Libya for the state department to find and destroy the MANPADS, capable of shooting down commercial airliners. Meanwhile at the consulate, with Benghazi still floo

  • I noticed that Mallard Fillmore is going bananas over headstart, maybe you can find justification for impeachment in that?
    • Do you find erotic relief in the word 'impeachment'? Asking for a friend.
      • Do you find erotic relief in the word 'impeachment'?

No, I just thought I'd see what your latest favorite conspiracy theory was. Even if I used it in every conversation I have with you between now and the end of time I still wouldn't be able to raise it as many times against Obama as you have.

That said I am impressed that you are still beating this dead horsefly. I really expected you would have abandoned it before now and moved on to some other fabulous allegation you could provide no factual support to.

        Asking for a friend.

        Sure. Sure, you are.

        • Even if I used it in every conversation I have with you between now and the end of time I still wouldn't be able to raise it as many times against Obama as you have.

I certainly haven't employed 'impeachment' as often as BHO has laid down the personal pronoun. Nor do I think the symptom is greater than the disease. When you consider how thoroughly silly our representative government has become, BHO just loses relevance.

  • The people basically *are* as the Left sees them. For those coming from an atheistic viewpoint, it would indeed be very hard to view people as much more than sides of beef when you tell them what they should and should not care about and they obey, every time.

I've witnessed more independent discernment ability from a hamburger patty than the American people. At least beef has even the capability of turning on you if it's not treated properly.

    • Accepting your point for the sake of argument, so what?
That is, if our population is so many hunks of beef in a slaughterhouse, do we just give up the notions of liberty and representative government?
I usually refer to the notion as 'bureaucratic Calvinism', but maybe we can coin: 'cowvinism' to capture this notion of inevitable cattle-hood.
      The fundamental, diabolical flaw in

The people basically *are* as the Left sees them.

is that you just crushed individuality when you said 'the people'.

      • The only thing I can think of is put the Constitution and the Declaration in time capsules sprinkled liberally throughout the U.S., and each with a big fat sticker on it saying "Do not open until every last one of the 1960's generation has passed on!".

I've long figured that racism can never be eradicated, thru whatever various means people like to propose, but that all you can do is wait until it slowly dies out. I'm much less racist than my parents, who were much less racist than my grandparents (who were

        • I see a different trajectory. At the same time technology has the government veering wildly Orwellian, there is a substantial chunk of people using the technology to resist.
Hopefully, 2013 is the nadir, and we can start recovering with the next mid-term election. Assuming the impending crash doesn't break the country outright.
