Journal Taco Cowboy's Journal: I've decided to not disable ad on Slashdot 4

When I first signed up to Slashdot, it was so brand new, there were no ad anywhere

I do appreciate Slashdot's generous offer to allow me to disable ad when I'm visiting, but I think I'll continue to allow ad, and, from time to time, I can even click on some of the interesting ones

Not that I'm crazy for online ad, no, I'm not that crazy yet

It just that, throughout these years, my many visits to Slashdot has exposed me a lot of interesting ideas and insights.

Not disabling ad on Slashdot reflects my own appreciation of Slashdot, and what Slashdot stands for

Thanks, Slashdot !

May you have a great number of fruitful years ahead ! :)

I've decided to not disable ad on Slashdot

  • I also enable ads. Some of the ads are interesting. However, Slashdot needs to give some control on type of ads. For example, I have no interest in ads pertaining to women's clothing :D

I didn't check it either, but instead of women's clothing I get ads for Australian newspapers and working for some Australian intelligence agency (I've never even been to Australia) mixed in with Nike stuff and (on this page) a banner for some Chrysler car.

    • I usually see the ads for republican political candidates, sponsored by conservative web sites. I would say that slashdot should exert a little more control over who advertises here, but the editors have such a strong conservative slant that asking for such a thing would likely produce no noticeable change in the advertising choices.

System going down in 5 minutes.
