Nope, Absolutely Nothing to Learn Here. Carry On

  • Probably saved the child's life in the long run. (I'm trying to be an optimist here :-)
    • If Zontar is right, then nobody was helped - nor will anyone be. Likely the idiot owner will leave his weapons laying around again in the future (as we can be certain he will get them back); hopefully next time the bullet will hit him instead. Obviously the Founding Fathers wanted people to own these types of weapons and be atrociously careless with them, because second amendment and such.
  • ...but the BBC are reporting that the gun belonged to the victim's boyfriend [bbc.com] (as did the car she was driving).

    • And when absolutely nothing whatsoever is done in response to his wanton disregard for safety and responsibility, my overarching hypothesis will be validated. We will still learn nothing from this even though that idiot just killed his own girlfriend through his stupidity. I expect he'll have his gun back by Friday at the latest, the best we can hope for is that next time he is the one shot by his unsecured weapons.
      • Hopefully more women will learn to avoid gun nuts as boyfriends, because the relationship could be fatal. Certainly we're at least talking about it :-)

Not while he's driving, please! I have to assume there was some good fortune she didn't stomp on the gas when she was shot.

        • Indeed his stupidity has already claimed one innocent victim. While he would get what he has coming if he were to be the first non-innocent victim of it, we certainly don't need him to take anyone else out on the way.

With your bare hands?!?
