John Mearns writes "It looks like before long all caffeine junkies will be able to ditch the bottle of Mountain Dew or cup of coffee in favor of pill. Its not a true stimulant so you don't get the "caffeine crash," just countless hours of alert attentiveness. " It's also still in testing so it'll probably make you grow horns or something, and is supposed to only be used for people who are sleepy during the day, but it raises several interesting ethical questions.

Monsta Coty Scott asks: "After reading through countless articles from techies on how to make your own gadgets from available hardware, I find myself getting a little hungry. I've turned my play station into a hand held, I've just finished turning my old computer case into a home built CD-Changer, and I'm getting ready to upgrade the linux MP3 player in my car. But I cannot get a decent suger rush to keep me going, and the cost of surge and mountain dew slurpees are eating into my electronics fund. Has anyone made a junk food machine at home, or out of parts laying around? I'm looking to build myself a Slushee machine that orders new syrup when it's running low, a cotton candy machine that warms up and turns itself on when my alarm goes off at 7am. I don't need this morning coffee, get me a slurpee and some suger and I am ready to go. Has anyone came across plans, or know the workings behind such machines? I think there's alot of unexplored territory we are missing here." I thought this was a fun one for the weekend. Who knows what crazy projects might result from this one. Speaking of things found in geek Cubes, BenTheDewpendent sent us a page that tracks tons of info on Mountain Dew and bob_jordan found pictures of upcoming Futurama Bender Action Figures (Not as cool as Nate's Picolo tho) Baloo Ursidae sent us a story about electricity generating shoes. Gorphrim sent us some Duron Parodies Finally some Slashdot references: DrFun (one of the original net comics) mentioned us in a recent strip, Someone noted that Geek Culture is selling First Post T-Shirts. QuasEye noted that someone registered hotgrits.org and ironically enough, is running Slashcode. And the WashPost ran an article on us which is mostly accurate. And to wrap things up, maxxon showed us the way to Crank Dot Net, which has stuff on all sorts of conspiracy theories and urban myths and other crazy stuffs on the net. Stuff like UFOs, the face on mars, Creationism, Scientology, antigravity, and perpetual motion and more.

So the Big Game is over: I actually watched the whole thing this year. Had a cool time with a bunch of the guys (If you're reading: Thanks, Jon! Great shindig). But of course the real story each year isn't who won and who lost, but the ridiculously expensive lavish commercials. At $2M a spot, its gotta be crazy... huge numbers of the ads were for dotcoms and soda. What were your favorites? The E*Trade Monkey ad was my favorite, followed by the Mountain Dew leopard ad and the 7up ad where the truck hit the machine.

I'm drinking "Hawaiian Punch". I've already had 2 cups of coffee and a can of mountain dew, and I decided that I would try to have something non-carbonated and caffeinne free for lunch. Its all part of my master plan to better myself without actually learning anything, or doing any excersise. This can proudly proclaims that it is "Flavored Enriched Fruit Punch", and just in case you forgot, a half inch later it states in an equally sized font "Artificially Flavored". It does contain 5% fruit juice tho... I guess the other 95% is the "Flavored Enriched" part. It does go pretty good with a trio of microwavable waffles and lite syrup. But the little punch guy kinda freaks me out. He's way to excited about his little red juice glass. I miss my mountain dew.

Today I ate a corporate burrito. Two actually. They taste like a normal, personal microwavable burrito. They look like a normal "for individual use only" microwavable burritos. But these were most definitely corporate burritos. They were purchased with the Blockstackers American Express card, a case of mountain dew, and approximitely 18 more microwavable burritos in a gigantic "Economy Valu-Save Mega Pack". This sort of decedance could only be funded by a corporation like BSI, because lord knows no rational individual woul go to the store and become inspired to purchase an economy valu-save mega pack of burritos. Maybe a dozen microwavable stoffers lasagna or 50 Ham 'n Cheeze or Philidalphia Cheese Steak Hot Pockets, but twenty microwavable burritos is just to many for any individual man to own. Well, unless of course he fears that come January 1, the apocolypse will cause a massive microwavable burrito shortage, and now is the time to stockpile. Mind you anyone that is relying on microwavable food for their post-apocolyptic lunches is obviously seven cans short of a six pack. No sir: Only a corporation would buy microwavable burritos in this quantity. But they're tasty.

Well, Morrigan seems to have had a bad week. He sent in this interesting first-person tale of network woe at 0:dark:thirty. It's here to greet you this morning so that anyone in a similar situation can give Morrigan a big "right on," and those who simply use the network instead of maintaining it can gain a little insight into how hard it is to keep it working.

" I believe anything that achieves "Vending Machine" status is essential. We've got candy, cigarettes, mountain dew, even fruit and sandwiches. Pizza rounds it out nicely, but how long before whiskey joins the pack? I'd settle for a beer in a movie theater. I gotta move to amsterdam.

So today I fired guns. I'd never done it before. Once, when I was a Cadet, in perhaps 4th grade, we went to the Police Station as a Cadre and watched a cop shoot his pistol as part of our Tour of the dept. Definately not worth my entertainment dollar. Not compared to this...

Last night I wrote this. It was really really late. I guess that I really can't do much beyond apologize. I started writing at around 1:30am after grabbing a Pop Tart and a glass of milk. It's strange what follows when you type 'vi poptarts.txt' hit the carriage return, and just start typing whatever comes to your mind.
