+ - Possible Backdoor in New Encryption Standard?

Submitted by mdielmann
mdielmann writes: Bruce Schneier writes in Wired that there may be a backdoor in a new encryption standard released by NIST, which the NSA proposed. It runs 3 orders of magnitude slower than the other encryption systems included in the new standard, and it also appears to include a second set of secret numbers that act as a sort of skeleton key. If you're concerned about security, you'll probably want to avoid the Dual_EC_DRBG encryption method.

Make headway at work. Continue to let things deteriorate at home.
