Journal GMontag's Journal: Keys to the date pattern
I am surprised that so many people could put the following items together and contact me asking if it was me or point out how it sounded like me dressed strangely (almost everybody blew past the hybrid nonsense):
From his personal ad, I knew that Guns & Ammo was one of his favorite magazines, that he loved stock-car racing, and that a snapshot of him in a CLUB G'ITMO T-shirt is posted on Rush Limbaugh's website
(freebie copy)
Plus: "When he moved to Washington from his native Tennessee", cowboy boots, and a few adding Buckley and Hitchens, but they did not see the pattern in the women I described in the JE.
When I have isolated the details of these women in conversation almost everybody thinks these women are coworkers, roommates or friends of some sort, as was one of the suspicions that I had after-the-fact. I am still thinking that it is coincidental, and I doubt that I will ever know conclusively.
The important details:
"exit cards" of the 32 year old and Eve Fairbanks being almost identical and Eve writing a very close version of what I had written to Christy the flight attendant, after Christy's "traditional values" comment.
Plus some work details, since Eve's explanation of her job sounded more like an intern who gets to be printed sometimes and the other woman's explanation that she works retail and gets into print when she is working with a good editor.
Before my "date" with Eve I did think she and the other writer had to know each other, but they may not know that they they both had a date with me.
Final item that, after reflection, sounds like a Leftist's idea of "Conservative bait" was in Christy's values quiz:
All men are created equal regardless of race, gender or nationality: Unsure
I only noticed that one close to the time that she stopped responding and was going to ask her if it was an error. I was more focused on her porn answer being "Unsure" if it was harmful.
When I began writing "She was Working, I Thought I was on a Date", the Saturday before posting, I only included the flight attendant because she had raised my interest in younger women, then remembered the item in her profile.
Of course, I was blissfully clueless until I was given a hint (not a notification) that Eve was writing a story about the site that might include me. When I was thinking about what to write on 26 June 2006 I went back to Christy's profile and double-checked, she currently has the equality question as "Unsure".
Left that detail out because I had not asked her if it was an error, but it does not seem to be that important now. I do not remember that answer ever being "Agree" and not sure if it was "Disagree".
Something else that brought out the "Conservative bait" theme, or some other bait, was the juvenile-looking photo that I saw in Eve's profile (in the portfolio) just after we went out. No idea why it was posted and does not seem to have been used in the article.
One thing that leads me to believe that this is coincidental is that the 32 year old writer and the flight attendant still have active profiles, Eve Fairbanks' was deleted right before Mr. Right went to print.
Makes for an interesting pattern. A good writer could probably make a good story out of it.
Super creepy event: moments ago.
Was looking at "newest matches" and a new member, in her mid 20s, came up with no picture.
Occupation: Entertainment/News/Reporter
All men are created equal regardless of race, gender or nationality: Unsure
The rest of the profile looked appealing, so I e-mailed her:
Very nice profile, but need to ask if your equality answer was in error?
Also, I have generally gotten along very well with people who express themselves in writing, the other arts to a lesser extent.
What sort of news publication do you write for?
Checked mail later, Eleanor had read it but her profile was no longer available.
Eve Fairbanks also writes for The Examiner
