If there is a governing body that tries to downplay the chance of injury, tries to encourage participation while recovering from injury, or tries to discourage rules and equipment changes that would limit prevent injuries, they should be subject to scrutiny up to and including being sued, just as the restaurant, lift, and cinema owners in your examples would be.

Which is exactly what this guy is doing, suing the powers that be to improve the situation and hence reduce the chance of a permanent injury resulting from repetitive minor, easy-to-shrug-off injuries. He's not seeking monetary damages (as far as I can tell) yet you are objecting to what he's trying to accomplish. What I can't figure out is the reason behind the objection, care to elaborate?

A person goes to a restaurant, orders a meal, gets food poisoning...in your fantasy world are they allowed to sue the aforementioned restaurant? There was no requirement for them to go to the said restaurant, they could have stayed in and cooked, they could've gone to a different restaurant or they could've ordered take-away.

A family decides to take a vacation in a not-very-touristy holiday resort, once there, they decide to go on the chair lifts which, unbeknownst to them, are poorly maintained and cause injury to one of the kids...in your fantasy world, are they allowed to sue the holiday resort? They were not required to take a holiday, they could've stayed at home, they could've gone to a different holiday resort or they could've left the kids with their grand parents.

A couple decide to go to the cinemas to watch a movie, someone yells fire resulting in a stampede due to there being only one exit...in your version of reality, are the patrons allowed to sue the cinema because the cinema in question had failed to meet the health and safety regulations? They was no requirement for these people to go watch a movie at the cinema as they could've waited a couple months till the movie came out on DVD/BluRay/Streaming etc, they could've gone to a different cinema or they could've gone to the theater and enjoyed a live enactment of a Shakespeare play.

And what additional benefits do these American workers reap? They work (at least) 4 extra hours each week so their standard of living should be better, if it's not and all the extra work means more profits for their employer, then trying to portray that as a good thing is just plain dumb (unless you are one of the employers in which case you can laugh your head off at the dumb notion of said workers and their superiority complex over working more for the same of lower wages).

Not true at all...back in the day when xbox 360 and ps3 had just been released, the base xbox 360 model (called the arcade version) was 125 pounds with a free game and had a 4gb memory card and no wifi or internal hdd. The PS3 on the other hand was around 300 pounds and included (as far as i remember) wifi and a 60gb hdd out of the box. I bought the xbox 360 arcade along with a game for 125 quid, a little later bought a used 60gb hdd off of CEX for around 20 quid and almost a year later bought a wifi dongle for around 45 quid from gamestop (primarily because the router was not in my room any more). The fact that I could buy a cheap base model initially and 'upgrade' it when and how I wanted, played a major role in my decision to go with xbox 360 instead of the ps3.

the OP is not talking about Windows 8/Windows 8.1 though, they're talking about the MS Store that was supposed to be MS' version of the OSX app store that Apple launched. I think MS failed in that attempt, I don't know what the reason behind this failure is but every time I've searched for an app in the MS app store, the only apps I can find are Metro/ModernUI which are completely useless as far as my use case is concerned.

Also, games aren't the only thing keeping people away from Linux, the couple of PC games that I occasionally play can be run under WINE but what I can't get to run reliably is Photoshop and while Gimp is an alternative, I just can't get comfortable using it and I've tried several times. This is only one example that is relevant to me, other people have their own problems/peeves which keep them tied to Windows.

I don't know, Civilizations 5 (and it's expansion Civilizations 5: Gods and Kings, haven't got around to buying the 2nd expansion yet) is lots of fun and is not dumbed down in any way...

Dragon Age: Origins was excellent and did not feel dumbed down and while Dragon Age II was not the best game in the franchise, it definitely was not dumbed down.

Forza Motor Sports 4 and Forza Motor Sports 5 are both pretty good.

Tekken Tag Tournament 6 is also pretty good.

(I would have included Mass Effect in the list but while the game mechanics and overall experience improved from the first game to the third, the games were progressively dumbed down and the franchise had one of the worst endings ever, probably even worse than Dexter's (the TV show) series finale).
