Comment Boeing Engineers... (Score 2, Informative) 200

I have talked to Boeing Engineers about this in the past. They say that (both with present systems and new all IP based systems) there is a total physical and logical separation between the three types of networks on a plane (basically, pilot command and control, airplane maintenance networking, and passenger facing networking). They were pretty firm on this separation being inviolable, due to the obvious safety aspects. Either Chris Roberts is blowing smoke, or some pretty smart people made some pretty basic mistakes.

Comment Re:The Death of Punishment (Score 1) 649

you are a stupid punkass fool. I'd like to see you dropped into a maximum security prison out in the open and watch what happened to you when you told the inmates that they were not being punished. Your life would be very short and involve a lot of pain from that moment until you were finished, which would be a few minutes at most.

Looks like you've rehabilitated nicely.

Far better to lock this guy up for the rest of his natural life so that you can retain the "moral high ground" -- whilst also ensuring that he does suffer for his crime, for a lot longer than a few minutes on a table or in a chair.

This is the nub of the issue for me. Why do we seek to execute Islamic terrorists when that is exactly what they want?

Far better to sentence them to an entire lifetime of suffering behind the walls of a US prison. Myself, I can't imagine a worse fate; it's nasty, it's cold but somehow it's more HUMANE.

Love it. If death is what they crave, if death is what they expect - give 'em life!

Regular coffee pot + 1 coffee bean grinder + 1 lb bag of beans = 1 possibly recyclable / compostable bag plus a hundred + cups of coffee.

Keurig setup + 1 kcup insert = 1 cup of crappy coffee plus an unnecessary environmental impact in the form of an non-reusable cup.

Why in this day and age are we engineering waste INTO products when we should be engineering waste OUT of the product? It doesn't make sense.

I agree with most everything you've said, however, a month or so ago I was at someone's place and they offered a coffee.

It was surprisingly good. Turned out to be my first Keurig experience. I guess it depends on the coffee itself? I think she said it was "Blue Mountain" or something.

All in all, I was quite surprised that it didn't suck when I found out I was drinking one of those infernal machine's product.

I'm not sure his point was that he didn't care about it.

I also found the summary fairly opaque, although that is likely a reflection of my minimal understanding of math and physics. The editors usually provide summaries of complex topics that are a little more approachable for the layman but I suppose I could always flout the law and RTFA.

Oh but what if he is innocent ?

The GP asked you to look at the cost of death row prisoners. I think what he means is paying compensation to relatives for a false conviction is cheaper than keeping them alive until the appeals process is finished, and that he personally feels that this line of logic is acceptible. Personally, I consider this attitude murderous in and of itself. Perhaps the GP will voluntarily submit to the death penalty...?

With capitol offence level stupidity, the voluntary part shouldn't be necessary.

And I'm sure the OP would be okay with it, since it fits within their world view so well.

Nah, they probably whine up a shit storm over getting a minor traffic ticket.

Most people would just call you a blatant racist at this point and move on.

Serious question here: I see this word being thrown around a lot of late and I'm curious to know what exactly about this comment you thought was racist.
