Electronics? Really? Those are just things. They can be replaced. My data is backed up and can be restored. The things to worry about are food, medical supplies, and water. We always have about a month's worth of food and water stored away in the event of some sort of disaster. I don't give a fuck about my electronic devices. I care about the life and well being of myself and my wife, and like I said data can be restored.

I've never had a wireless cord get unplugged from moving my PC. However, your point is well taken.

I love my Transformer for a number of reasons. It's really a tiny laptop, for one. I don't do a lot of document editing on it but I can and have. I can plug a USB->Serial cable into it and console into firewalls, routers, etc. I can VPN in to either work or home then use RDP to do real work if I have to. The gaming part is just icing on the cake. I sometimes travel a lot and having a lightweight Netflix/Gaming device is a huge boon to me.

I have the Asus Transformer Prime 201 with the Tegra 3 and it is/was a pretty damn good CPU. The tablet is still quite useful despite being a few years old. I skipped the Tegra 4s and have been waiting for K1 powered tablets. I do a fair bit of gaming on my tablet and I can't wait to see what developers do with the K1.

That was my first thought as well. Don't get me wrong, it will be an impressive feat, but it's nowhere near 'the edge of space'. I haven't done the math or looked it up but one would probably see the curvature of the Earth more noticeably than at sea level, but still, the title of this entry is complete sensationalism.

Money (exchangeable value) has always driven innovation. The application-specific integrated circuits made just for Bitcoin math were rapidly developed and produced in mass quantities in multiple variations. All of this if about a 2 year span at most. These the ability to quickly design and produce ASIC chip is real innovation here and actually commodity. It won't be long now before we have ASIC for all kinds of number crunching and specific tasks. It's hardware that's innovating and changing nearly as fast as software. I bet on this as a new wave of tech. Multipurpose CPUs are likely going to become just small components in a much larger system replacing what we know as computers.
