If 'xylitol' is hard for English speakers, it should be doubly so in Finland. We did extensive clinical research on its use against dental caries in the 1970s, and now everyone and, well, not their dog, has been using it in forms like chewing gum for a couple of decades.

However, we are notoriously bad at pronouncing foreign words. For instance, initial 'str' in words like 'strategy' ('strategia' in Finnish) is often reduced to just 'r', at least when spoken by older people with less foreign exposure. Wait, you Americans still have these weird recycling bins which might as well be labeled "miscellaneous", as they still need someone to do the actual sorting? Here in the old world (.fi) we have different bins for stuff like glass and metal. There is some regional variety depending on the local market, though I've heard some of this still ends up in landfill.

Well of course I'm familiar with the back wall bounce. It probably won't work across too many reflections in weird angles. In fact, it seems that newer remotes have narrower working angles to avoid conflicts with the bazillion other receivers. The point is that light works for remotes for obvious reasons, it's really the bug that turns out a feature. It sure is a funny coincidence that television viewers generally have line of sight to the set. OTOH, you also have these computer users that store every file on their "desktop", because it doesn't exist if you can't see it, so that demographic might also benefit from the existing line of sight to teh internets.

Do they germinate, take root, send up leaves, and decrease atmospheric dioxide... in the DARK? Entropy always increases within a closed system, but I suspect your "closed system" has a window open somewhere.

When stuff falls into a black hole, it gets measurably heavier. If a charged particle falls into one, the black hole retains a measurable electric field. If a black hole picks up angular momentum from gas circling in sideways, the hole spins faster, and the gas fired from the jets comes out at a higher speed.

Your argument that mass or energy exists that isn't measurable since it isn't observable sounds a little illogical... how would you even know there was such a thing if nobody had measured it for you in the first place?
