I have used them for years as a network solutions provider.

well, as I am in America and own guns, I would shoot the fucker in the head and piss on his corps! Now as for the Sovereignty of Libya Fuck that too! Sovereinty is derived from the people and their willingness to be governed! When the people of an oppressed Nation STAND up and DEMAND their freedom we need to Listen! We also need to provide what ever assistance we can. so I here and now Pledge mine! get me with in a Mile of That ASSHOLE with a clear line of sight and I will blow his head off with my .50 cal! and since I am a Marine Scout Sniper I ain't just blowing smoke!

OK so here is my Idea we use a set of UAV's equipped with GSM band transceivers ans satellite uplinks, have the UAV's station keep over the most populated area's bouncing their signals from the GSM up to Satellites. this tech all currently exists and is possible using current mil-tech! and while expensive very feasible! well that is my Idea whats yours!

Comment Is Microsoft becomming the Anti-Apple? (Score 0) 248

absolutely amazing! while windows XP was and is usable, Vista was a disaster on launch, and 7 an immediate favorite, their mobile platforms have always struggled. mobile 5 was utilitarian like XP and 6 was a failure on par with Vista is 7 as good as 7? While apple struggles to prevent us from running the aps we want on devices we OWN! windows is working with the hacker to provide the content people want and solve the security flaws that allow the unlocking. can we say brilliant on the part of MS (formerly the evil overlord)

Comment I don't think it will ever happen (Score -1, Offtopic) 606

there is no need is is a stupid Idea. the level of skill needed to fly around will never be as obtainable as a driving license. Besides we need to start looking locally to ensure the survivability of our species. think about it the majority of our food products travel between 200 and 2000 miles to reach our table. we need to stop growing mass produced genetically engineered corn that can't be digested and start growing the foods we can actually consume. Most field corn has to be digested by machines and processed in to food additives in order to consume it. mass agriculture also requires large amounts of petroleum based fertilizers killing the earths ability to naturally support the growth of real crops. Mark my works mass corporate farming is going to lead the starvation and economic disaster with in 15 years if we don't start fixing it now.

My daughter(13) wanted a iPod touch for her Birthday a few days ago and we got it for her. I was playing with it (after she went to bed) and LOVE IT!. the only thing I found it lacking was a camera, but the mac rumor mill says that the gen 4 coming out in Sept. will have the new features of the iPhone 4. I am planning to wait till then and get one for the wife and one for myself. My Question to the SlashDot community is this:
What are the best productivity apps for the iphone/ipod touch?"

Submission + - Microsoft, Intel Get Pass on Higher H-1B Fees

theodp writes: Criticizing companies that outsource high-paying American jobs, Senator Charles Schumer described Indian IT company Infosys as a 'chop shop'. The comments came as the Senate scrambled to fund the $600MM Mexican Border Security Bill by hiking application fees for H-1B and L-1 visas. The Senate measure increases H-1B visa fees by $2,000 per application on firms that have 50% or more of their employees on this visa. Schumer pointed out the bill would not affect high-tech companies such as Intel or Microsoft, although they are among the biggest beneficiaries of the H-1B program.
