It's a cultural phenomenon. If you've ever lived there or known anyone who lives there (or heard hours-long rants from certain now-dead radio hosts that used to live there), you'll know that old-school New Yorkers see non-AC households as a mark of pride or honor or . . . something. It's weird but it's a thing.

Yes and we still have to be careful the tests are testing what we want to test not some other behavior we didn't understand.

Even something as simple as training a dog to sit can go horribly wrong if you and your dog have a different idea of what the goal is.

Yep...if you're your not careful with too many "counting crows", you might end up with them thinking they're a BAND...

You'd love snobs from New York. They brag about not having AC all the time! Or at least they used to.

Why in the world would they do that?!?!?

While I've never thought of it as anything to "brag" about...if I did, I would be bragging that my house is set up to where I am comfortable in it at 72-75F 24/7/365......

I can't imagine any other occupation where a lack of experience is seen by some as a positive note. All that would happen is even heavier reliance on bureaucrats and lobbyists to write legislation. It's like insisting first year med students would make way better doctors than someone with 20 years under their belt. It's absurd, and demonstrates the nihilism and idiocy of populist politics.
