A dying product is seeking special support by the government. There is no free market, move along, move along.
The point of the battery storage is to take a highly verbal system in the short term, like wind, and make it more predictable for the short term. Longer term, 8 to 10 day, wind is predictable and used all the time in the maritime world. With battery storage you can better plan for the low wind days and bring up capacity on your nuke plants. The energy grid is a system which seems you have ignored, stabilizing that system is a win and there's noting here to complain about.
The U.S. Regulatory state may have a problem with this kind of thing. Payed time off would work but then what does a company do with the part timers that are employed at under 36 hours a week. So then why would the company even offer full time employment. Only offer 32 hour work weeks then you would not be required to offer insurance.
I personally think employers should be prohibited from offering insurance in the US. Buying insurance on the open market, divorced from the employer, would make it truly portable.
95th percentile billing is just another method of usage billing and would probably work OK for consumer data billing, it would be much better than most of the current methods that penalize usage. I think a better method, would resemble the rural electric CoOp. You pay a monthly flat fee just to have electricity, that covers the infrastructure, then pay for your actual usage.
I see they stream on Spotify so I wonder if they have to fight bogus DMCA there? Also wonder if they pay or are payed by Spotify for the content? It seams that it would be in Google's (YouTube) best interest to not take down this kind of thing. I'm sure they make some kind of $$ from these kinds of streams.
This is such a stupid sentiment. But perhaps we more Paramounts, Disneys, HBOs, Apples ?
This reads like "Giant companies fund things in in ways I don't expect or approve of." Every company has products they lose money on which are essentially funded by other products. Do you really thing a game console only costs $300?
I believe this is the bill in question. S.2992 - American Innovation and Choice Online Act https://www.congress.gov/bill/...
Nowhere in the article are the bill or the letter references so you could view their contents. I appreciate that the article is not an opinion piece but god please link to the subject's being references.
This is nothing more than someone looking for clicks, data, to boost readership and increase paywall subscriptions. The "data" is being collected and used. If the data doesn't exist try collect it? Teardown this paywall!
If someone breaks in to a business do they find the locksmith or guy that installed the door and put them in jail?
I've been using one browser (Safari) with DuckDuck and other privacy tools for all my personal stuff. Results are fairly good. For work I use another browser (Chrome/Firefox) and Google search and don't try to hide anything from Google. Then the algorithm gets tuned to work related searches.

Taiwan is the primary, nearly only, source for advanced chips. China is ramping up their own production but that will take time to catchup. They need to increase demand for domestic production and reduce reliance on TSMC if they want to actually take over the island. Because an invasion will likely rubbleize the existing TSMC plants on the island, which are the only source for 3nm and primary source for 4nm chips.
