Working from home is/was harder for me. Too many other distractions, video games, a book, the kid. Not to mention it is difficult to support hardware and build systems remotely. I would end up having to go into work on many occasions because someone in the lab would move a network cable or need to swap a drive, or a fscking power supply would fail even with redundant stuff you can't leave a server up minus 1 power supply because another failure would actually trigger a down machine, or a cluster would fail over and as good as they are someone still has to be there to supervise a FCA switch back. We utilize a lot of satellite/shared office spaces for Customer support engineers these days. You work from the customer site in a cubicle or a neutral site that has a generic office with network access, and a physical address so I can take part deliveries at any time of day or night.

If anyone else targets an airport it is an act of terrorism, but with Amazon it is a strategic business decision. It is probably a good thing the Amazon rep. and the $10K/hour consultant they hired to come up with this idea were not discussing it at the actual airport. The TSA would have declared it an emergency situation, locked down the airport, every school in a 30 mile radius, and cancelled every flight in the continental US.

I could edge out the other 2 and make my work connection more stable but my home life would go to shit. I am uncertain which would be better in the long run. I try and work off hours as much as possible and my GF is understanding but asking her and her daughter to give up their share isn't fair either as we split the bills. I'm trying right now to see about getting a dsl line to the house as a dedicated business expense and having both. Normally work is OK its just the video that becomes unreliable, but running a video teleconference and streaming amazon really SUCKS.

I guess I am doomed, we have lousy internet, only one cable carrier available and they won't or can't deliver better than 25 Mbps. We can get a DSL signal but it never gets better than 12-16 Mbps. With me working from the house, the GF watching Amazon and her kid streaming music the net connection is choppy and unreliable. Spectrum cable SUCKS, they advertise starting at 60 Mbps and up to 100 Mbps but no one in the rural area I live in gets better than 25 Mbps.

Why should Tesla be held to truth in advertising while other car manufacturers can show their cars doing rail slides on bridges and many other behaviors that a car can not accomplish ? I've always preferred the old IBM 3270 style KB's.They allowed for more than 3 key combinations which gave a distinct advantage in FPS directional movement. You could jump, move forward and strafe or circle strafe in a left or right direction while also firing or even combo firing. Many newer KB's top out at 3 key combinations designed around the ctrl-alt-delete setup but ignored a fourth or fifth input. I am not sure what KB's out there mimic that behavior or if newer models even do. I have several boxes full of old IBM hardware that I've saved over the years and given the inherent toughness of the mechanical KB's they will last me many years.

I use it all the time, though you are correct I did not ask for it. The smart TV in the great room has the Amazon and Netflix apps loaded. On the other hand I just plug my lap top into the HDMI port on the dumb screen in my den and it works the same way so I get my Amazon and Netflix via the in-house network without have to run too many cables into the wall, or needing a separate unit. My house is Yuma is on a slab and has no attic.
