Journal Journal: Legal pot will have a big problem 1
It will have virtually no market value whatsoever. The only reason the profit margins are so high is due to its prohibition. The market demands scarcity. Prohibition provides exactly that. So, is the government going to continue spending millions on the eradication of wild plants? And unlike any other drug we consume, it requires almost no infrastructure to cultivate and process. Look, it's a weed, dammit! It will grow almost anywhere. Who's going to invest in a huge distribution network that will never be needed when all I have to do is throw some seeds onto the ground? There will be a small market for the "kind" brands, but those seeds will spread also. Those expecting a tax base from this will be greatly disappointed. The only way it will take off is if Monsanto can pollute the world with "terminator" seeds. This is indeed a possibility, given their history.
