I just had the displeasure of trying the beta for the first time because of the comments here. I don't like it either (and I like even Windows 8, so come on!); the worst part is that the comments are in a VERY narrow box, and all the useless framing takes up a significant chunk of space.
Also it seems to require Javascript, but I know that even on this site I'm in the minority with that particular dislike.
The integration features certainly don't seem intrusive in any way, because I have no idea how to access them. There is nothing in the main menu about social media integration, nor in the options dialog. Which is nice.
Isn't ChromeOS a Linux distro at its core? Installing a different distro should be fairly simple, I hope. This thing is cheap enough, I'm considering getting one as a toy.
Could you elaborate on your future vision? In what situation would for example my future granddaughter need to whip up a mobile app?
I think that the fact that you had to point out the double slashes shows why replacing the dots with slashes is a bad idea.
I think I'd prefer (there are probably issues that haven't occurred to me) if there were no generic top-level domains at all, only country codes. I realize why they exist, I just find them redundant and also slightly confusing especially outside the US;
On the other hand, the current system works Good Enough so it probably won't and maybe shouldn't change.
The back button rarely works on modern Javascript-heavy sites, so that's not a problem.
Strangely enough google.com does seem to load slightly slower in IE11 than in Firefox 26, while I don't notice any difference with msn.com. I don't have Chrom(ium|e) installed and don't care enough to do so.
Hmm, I suppose you're using an older version and IE11 has actually improved then, as the one thing where IE definitely isn't slow is startup; the window opens almost instantly. There's also no noticable difference in the time it takes to open msn.com between IE11 and Firefox 26 on my system (not much longer than one second, which frankly is good enough for me. Of course it's also possible that you're just more sensitive about such issues than I am.)
Could you give an example of a site where IE seems slow? I mostly use Firefox but very occasionally try IE (11), and I don't notice any speed difference. I also check out Chrome every now and then, its performance doesn't seem any different compared to Firefox or IE either.
I don't like the font rendering in IE though; fonts look very different compared to Firefox and are harder to read.
If they were certain to make more money by selling Photoshop for three bucks, why wouldn't they do it? It seems illogical, so I guess the case is that it's unlikely they'd make more money that way.
(I'm not an economist, and this isn't economical advice.)
Why would you need to register it? I fairly recently bought a prepaid SIM card with cash, no names asked. Unless the registration was part of the joke, in that case I'm sorry
Honestly, my first reaction is to be jealous of him, and anyone else who can hold the belief that they're The Greatest Thing To Happen with confidence. I imagine it would be much better than what I have now, that is just enough confidence in myself to get by.
I don't live in the US though, but I drive less than I did ten years ago. Back then I had a car, now I don't. I don't really miss having a car much, because I don't need to travel long distances.
Don't panic.
