Not having updates is suicide if you check your bank account or pay bills online! Damned if you do damned if you don't. I only had one problem luckily since Vista with an update.

MS needs to rehire their QA team they fired back before they certify a WHQL for update.

And FYI they install automatically too on 7 and 8.1.

I only use the drivers from Windows update as the ones from ATI or NVidia are always buggy. Sounds like a bad time to fire the QA team and only focus on usage scenarios and feedback.

I personally will avoid 10 until redstone or the update after comes out ..,. and will use the professional edition.

Or the marketing department sends you the video file made in Adobe products which are h.265 for the website whose tools can't export to vp9.

VP9? Ok now your IE users will claim it doesn't work. What kind of video editing tools out there support ogg vorbis or vp9? Any adobe products that your coworkers and rest of the industry use do?

For those who bashed Firefox and those who supported Ogg Vorbis and vp9 or whatever the hell that other codec was called ... all I can say is TOLD YA SO!

Pretty soon they will go after Mozilla for royalities fees and if you do not want to spied upon by Google or use IE you will need to install flash back. Flash is the only recourse as horrible as this sounds agaisn't this as it is a defacto standard now to use this patented technology which will require DRM I am sure too and perhaps an anti open source license agreement too forcing developers like those who make Konqueror to either violate the GPL or not work on many websites.

So part of an open standard is owned by a monopoly and the great internet which was owned by the people is now licensed under Hollywood. Incredible!

Try adding flashblocker.

In 2015 we still need flash like we needed IE 6 in 2005 for some websites. Flashblocker is click to play so you can watch all your HTML 5 videos and still use flash for CBT Nuggets or music from youtube.

It is a big boost for security and it is how I have Chrome setup.

Which is why I use adblock plus. Slashdot gets paid still by ethical ads with guidelines that must be met and will lose money when these clowns get blocked. I still get 3 ad networks blocked as of right now with adblock. If Slashdot wants more money replace them with ethical ads and VIOLA.

So to me this is the perfect solution so we can have some free stuff and profitability goes down for the unethical ones

I tried a system without adblock and it was astounding what these guys do these days. Website redirects, 15 second commercials you can't close, etc.

I'm just trying to think how that would have been possible. I think back then there was a medical exception you could plead for. I didn't. I passed the 20 WPM test fair and square and got K6BP as a vanity call, long before there was any way to get that call without passing a 20 WPM test.

Unfortunately, ARRL did fight to keep those code speeds in place, and to keep code requirements, for the last several decades that I know of and probably continuously since 1936. Of course there was all of the regulation around incentive licensing, where code speeds were given a primary role. What I got from the corporate folks was that their management was resistant to using Radio Amateurs regardless of what the law was. Not that they were chomping at the bit waiting to be able to carry HIPAA-protected emergency information via encrypted Amateur radio. Indeed, if you read the encryption proceeding, public agencies and corporations hardly commented at all. That point was made very clearly in FCC's statement - the agencies that were theorized by Amateurs to want encryption didn't show any interest in the proceeding.

They have improved. Power management, efi, and people tend to now buy more laptops and now tablets. People run apps on their phones.

Windows 10 is a hybrid which takes advantage of fast uefi booting, can run apps and applications, touch friendly, and more power efficient.

The 10 sdk has tools and support for dalvik and objective-c and can use 80% of the code for your android and is apps.

You may not be changing but I am seeing more and more surfaces and workplaces shifting to ultrabooks. So MS has decided it needed to change if it didn't want to follow the lead of IBM when focusing on legacy like mainframes

It was taken off as that looks very dated. Clean, low color, minimal is all the rage and more modern looking. OSX too toned these down with a flatter look with Yosemite. Android lollipop and M too are going low color aND flat with a modern look.
