Yeah, when did Google stop including inline advertising? I've had my Gmail account for only 5 or 6 years, but I don't ever remember seeing advertising.
Yes, knew this was a thing from the HBO documentary series Barry.
Definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it.
I judged under-nosers too -- up until I sat beside a man whose standard blue mask eternally slid down off his nose within minutes of him tugging it back in place.
Normal looking guy too, it's not like he had some bizarre head shape.
Does that method scale?
Quite apart from the question of *can* Earth support an ever-increasing population, I'm more interesting in hearing from folks like you, *why* do you want ever increasing population?
I like going out in undisturbed wilderness! I like driving on non-gridlocked highways! I like less pollution! I like cheaper housing! I like smaller lines! I like less competition!
What do you think is the optimal population? 20 billion? 100 billion? I just don't get it.
I skimmed the headline quickly and I thought a *gunman* was asking for a press release and not an October event. Apple inspires many passions so it kinda didn't surprise me.
Oh, of course!
Thanks for your reply, that is obvious now in retrospect.
Off topic....
Can someone help me figure this out? There seem to be two accounts using the name PopeRatzo. One is the apparent troll parent has responded to, and the other has been a longtime presence on Slashdot and usually makes insightful and interesting comments. I have friended the 2nd account but not the first. Somehow they both have the same account number (965497), but the trolll account has a 2nd number after it (9779246).
What is going on? Am I missing something obvious?
Off topic: Approximately how many "silvergun" accounts do you operate?
Since it's not in the summary, the measured mass "is about 80 times the mass of a proton, or approximately 80,000 MeV/c2."
I wish I understood how this works... It seems like this is saying that the mass of this one particle is greater than the first quarter of the elements in the periodic table, and greater than many molecules. Does mass mean something different in the world of force carriers?
I'd like to offer a counterpoint to your critique of Slashdot's moderation system....
My time is limited. I hardly ever want to read all ~50 comments on a story. That's where moderation comes in handy: filter out all the low-point comments and boom! I can get the gist of the comments in just a couple minutes.
I'll even go a step further and say that often, group-think is useful! Consider a non-techy person such as myself: A story about some new piece of hardware or a new scientific discovery, usually has comments that cut through the PR BS and give the straight dope.
The fact that Slashdot stereotypically attracts a smarter-than-average crowd is why I'm here.
There is a lot of cynicism in this thread about "brigade modding." But more often than not, if a comment has been moderated to +5 Insightful, it usually is.
I don't know. Just my two cents.
