Journal Marxist Hacker 42's Journal: Climate Change Requires Adaptation, not Fear and Destruction 76

I've long said that Climate Change requires Adaptation, not destruction of our economy and our way of life.

I've said that since 2004, when we crossed the Tundra Methane Threshold and the most influential greenhouse gas today became a positive feedback loop, accounting for 95% of all greenhouse gases released now and likely in the near future.

Now Senator Dan Crenshaw shows just how dishonest the Green New Deal is in relation to an adaptation vs cancelation strategy.

Climate Change Requires Adaptation, not Fear and Destruction

  • Just a bunch of vague bullet points of things we should be doing anyway, the bill just spells out the perks. Still, there's no reason not to cut back on the contamination. The "economy" doesn't have to sacrifice anything, public funds just have to be redirected away from "dirty" industries, and of course from Wall Street

Wish you wouldn't use videos. They are a horrible waste of time

  • 1) The Fear is pushed because of the massive tons of denial that the other side pushed. Your opinions are not fresh, they are standard 4th stage GOP (not conservative, GOP) strategy: a) Deny, b) not proven, c) not our fault, d) true, proven, our fault, but our strategy is better than yours.

    2) The "destruction" is required because we can not trust the people that caused the problem. They have become immensely wealthy by using methods that created the problems and are fighting to continue. Exxon etc. can

    • 1) At least adaptation, makes some economic sense. As opposed to the current Democrat plan which seems to be to sell you into slavery to make the turbines run by human power.

      2) Not entirely when you're talking about taking out a $600,000 mortgage on every human being in the United States.

      3) No, I've yet to see any liberal propose seasteading or dikes. Only Cap & Trade- which of course ends up "let the rich oil people enjoy their wealth and let the guy who has to get to work somehow pay for it".

      4) Th

      • I've yet to see any liberal propose seasteading or dikes. Only Cap & Trade

Liberals have all left the country. What you describe are stereotypical neo-liberals.

    • It is the heart of the DNC now and forever.

Hoo-ah! I sure wish I could give you a ton of funny mods for that one!

  • Fellow Naval Officer, conservative, etc. etc.

This is a case of dueling models.

There is no prophet on offer.

If we consider that people are a 3D body/mind/soul, and politics happens in the body/mind plane, then consider this:

The climate alarm is a fear play, attacking the body.

Crenshaw appeals to the mind here.

Ceteris paribus, I'll go with the non-fear peddler.
    • Crenshaw appeals to the mind here.

Well, appeals to intellect are futile, as every wishful "commie" should know. The brain stem rules, the cortex serves.

      • What are you talking about? Minds are beautiful, especially in context with a well-maintained body and soul.
        • Still, the brain stem rules over all. If appeals to intellect worked, we would have a completely different world

          • Still, the brain stem rules over all.

You can goose that with chemicals, up to a point.

            If appeals to intellect worked

OK, if the body and mind are finite, what else is there, pray?

            • Very simply you have to appeal to the beast... This is what makes your Trump so successful.

              • I would not have said Trump appeals to any beast.

Quite to the contrary, he picked up the wreckage of the Tea Parties that the right wing of the Deep State abhorred.
                • Sorry, he's pure animal. Catharsis... That's the heart of his media "genius".. well, the lack of opposition isn't hurting either

                    • Hmm, I still think the campaign between Jefferson and Adams in 1800 was more interesting [mentalfloss.com].

To Jefferson's credit, Callendar proved incredibly effective, convincing many Americans that Adams desperately wanted to attack France. Although the claim was completely untrue, voters bought it, and Jefferson won the election.

                      plus ça change..

                    • But we're supposed to be more smartererer these days. Trusting scientists like Fauci and stuff.
                    • Those people are politicians first.. We have trashed the entire system

                    • And yet you seem paralyzed at the thought of supporting anything else.
                    • I'll support anything else in place of your Ted Cruz, Trump, and clones (that includes the democrat ones). But if you see any liberals, gimme a heads up, eh?

                    • I thought that you had poo-poohed the Convention of States.
                    • That we definitely don't want or need. We are just supposed to elect a better class of people. The ones we have now will destroy everything if we let them rewrite the constitution into Jim Crow and corporate privilege.

                    • What if there is no better class of people? What if this better class of people of the liberal utopian dream is just a much a myth as the benevolent trickle down capitalist or the communism system that isn't based on genocide?

                    • What if there is no better class of people?

But there is. You can see how they live, or maybe not, because they're fairly reclusive, not seeking public adulation. This is why we may have to resort to conscription and a lottery, because people who want the job are clearly not qualified, they are salesmen, not at all suitable for service. Let's turn it into jury duty.

                    • So,

I'll support anything else in place of your Ted Cruz, Trump, and clones (that includes the democrat ones).

...but not anything anything. Even an improvement over the status quo.

                    • This is why we may have to resort to conscription and a lottery, because people who want the job are clearly not qualified, they are salesmen, not at all suitable for service. Let's turn it into jury duty.

I'm not completely in disagreement there, but much of the Deep State needs to be obviated in favor of simpler, more distributed, and transparent systems in the process. And that clearly doesn't occur at the drop of a hat. Rather, we need a commitment to such a course and a gradual plan to taper that dire

                    • They are not. They are the hyper-privileged drones of your status quo, serving only personal interest. Your support only indicates your own vicarious desires for the same privilege, of no benefit to the country or the planet as a whole. They are direct conflict with your professed beliefs, and yet.. your excuse is always "nobody's perfect", as if that means we should put them on a pedestal regardless.

Sorry, pick better people, so I know you're serious

                    • And now you're going all D_R on me, rejecting responses and moving goalposts.

You both reject any name or figure proffered, yet effectively require a saint.

At least D_R is an active, rather than passive, statist.
                    • Funny how I consider you and d_r as just two bookends, red and blue mirror images...

                      effectively require a saint

*sigh* classic boilerplate whitewashing of your favorite villains.. No, I only require people who aren't owned.

                    • You're always going to find some ownership. Always. Your hypothetical free agent is precisely that.
                    • There you go again.. Your "all men are sinners" shtick is a garbage excuse not to even try.

                    • Nice triple-bind, D_R: I lose if I fail to put forth a name; I lose if I put forth a name; I lose if I call you on your game.

You, on the other hand, never have to do anything save object.

                      Indeed, you are management material.
                    • No, it's that the names you put forth so far are just the same old stuff from the last 50 years. You are in denial of their complicity and madness. You can do better. Hell, bring back Bob Dole

                    • Dole? Are you willing to come out as a Romney supporter, then?
                    • Oh, I don't know about that.. They could be Danites..

                    • This is my point. You can demand names, and then serially reject them. Ho hum.
                    • I do not believe they exist. I see ZERO evidence of their existence. Every person I run into that claims they exist, show by their own lives that they are not members of these exclusive ubermench.

                    • Everybody is owned by their own vices.

                    • Show us one that isn't. Every Utopia has a flaw, every human being has a flaw.

                    • Bob Dole sold out decades ago. Try again.

                    • Danites? From Denmark?

No, even there, they have to still have prisons.

                    • Name one better person. Any one of your supermen.

                    • The names you pick are all insiders and sociopaths straight from the politburo. Find somebody reasonable, from the outside, and let's investigate. Just remember, I expect empathy, so stay away from your usual "work or starve" wackos.

                    • :-) You never read "A Study in Scarlet"?

And I'm sure you already know that Danes are the North Germanic ethnic group native to Denmark...

                    • Men? No thanks. Gotta end the patriarchy.

                      I pick Oprah

Otherwise, we can't do worse by drawing straws and keep the term short

We could pick anybody if we demanded that they serve

                    • I do not believe they exist. I see ZERO evidence of their existence.

Yes, well, that's how a lot of people feel about your deity, guess it's kind of a stand off then.

                    • Every Utopia has a flaw, every human being has a flaw.

Yeah, that seems to be the standard excuse not to try.. "Every man's a sinner", may as well pick the ones that benefits "you" and "your kind", right? Just follow their example and let it slide. It seems that you too, have surrendered

Read this [mit.edu] some day, won't take long...

                    • The 1996 Bob Dole. Shame he lost that one to such sleaze

                    • As long as they are owned by their own vices, there's no problem. When they meddle with others', there's a big problem.

                    • Find somebody reasonable

Narrator: "Of course, if such a 'reasonable' unicorn existed, fustakrakich would have named the figure."

                      But I'll play: Tom Cotton.

                    • Oh, brother.. Ever deeper you go. I guess empathy is off the table...

                    • Lemme put it another way.. Why are you picking regular machine politicians? In this case, yet another wacko. You cannot break from the DNC/GOP (Q) any better than d_r, can you?

                    • Is there anybody reasonable from outside? I certainly don't see any.

                    • Not for many years. I largely consider Sherlock Homes to be children's literature. I had truly forgotten about the Danite Mormons- seeing as how they died out completely as a sect in 1838, they are yet another example of how utopias are unstable and human beings are incapable of sustainable utopias.

You could have also referred to the Millerites, who were at least slightly more successful, but also have had severe problems.

There simply are no sinless human beings in the general population.

                    • Oprah is a misandrist abuser who hates children. Try again.

                    • You have yet to show me such a superman. You're the one making the irrational claim that such a person exists.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The problem isn't just in finding a person who will serve, but a person who will *continue* to serve under the ultimate form of bribery.

                    • Find me a person without a flaw first. After all, so far your only suggestion of Oprah, a misandrist genocidal maniac, certainly is " pick the ones that benefits "you" and "your kind"".

                    • Bob Dole had already sold out by 1981. Another " pick the ones that benefits "you" and "your kind""

                    • Any vice at all insures that they will be meddling with the rights of others, that's what makes such behavior a vice.

                    • A multigeneration bureaucrat from Harvard Law? American Nobility, are you serious?

                    • That may be part of my problem.

Empathy to me is a myth. Whenever people try to empathize with me, they get it so far wrong that it is like they are claiming the ability to turn invisible in broad daylight by taking off their clothes.

Sorry, I don't believe in your superpower of empathy any more than I believe in your flawless superman, Nietzsche.

                    • Never said there are. It doesn't preclude seeking out the best of us to lead, if we need or want a leader

                    • :-) I'll have to look into that one..

                    • You have yet to show me such a superman.

Yes, I can accept the absurdity of such a thing. But there are actual liberals that you can find and elect. When the power corrupts them, you "unelect" them. It's merely your bias that blinds you to the fact.

                    • Find me a person without a flaw first.

Such an insane request cannot be treated seriously. Just look for better is all I ever said. Don't reelect sociopaths

                    • Life outside the bubble is hell, ain't it?

                    • Your feelings are your feelings, I'm not trying to "empathize" with that. I'm talking about offering, where possible, help to those who ask. Accepting the mere pittance it costs to live in a humane society.

And empathy is no more mythical than your deity. I find it humorous that a religious person would declare that something doesn't exist.

                    • "Go?" I stipulated that I'm playing. Carry on.
                    • OK, Allen West. I actually had dinner with him about a decade back. Bring forth your objections.
                    • Point out the serious part of our government, please.
                    • Such empathy as I have is on loan from Christ.
                    • :-) You got a weird way of showing it

I'm sure he would treat your choices like the temple money changers they are.

                    • Wow, your little TV playlist is so short, still stuck in DNC/GOP land.

We really do need to just draw straws and take our chances
