Journal ces's Journal: Ask Slashdot: Favorite Ergonomic Chair? 6

Like many of you I spend a lot of time every day sitting on my rear in front of a computer screen. I'm looking for a comfy chair to make this activity easier on my back.

I've used both a HermanMiller Aeron and a Humanscale Liberty. I've not used any of the others though.

The chairs I'm considering are:
HermanMiller Aeron
HermanMiller Mirra
Humanscale Freedom
Humanscale Liberty
Steelcase Leap

Any experiences with these chairs you'd care to share? Any suggestions or comments?

  • The Aeron is a very nice chair, for shape, the ways in which it can be adjusted, and air circulation. I used one for a while, three years ago. However, the surface seems to cause more wear on pants. All of the pants that I wore regularly showed distinct wear marks where I kept my wallet in my back pocket. With that one caveat, I'd highly recommend the Aeron.
    • though I never had the wallet problem. Aeron's are the best chairs I've ever sat in, personally. I've heard good things about the Steelcase, but I've never sat in one. I haven't ever heard of, or looked at the others.

I used to swear/affirm/aver I'd never own furniture with names - until I sat in an Aeron. I now understand how they can justify the asking price for those... Worth it.
  • I think they retail for $500 to $1000, but I have no idea, actually.
