I would love to be able to game with images like that.
I can go either way. I don't put nearly as much emphasis on graphics as I do on whether the game is fun to play. I expect CGI realism in movies, but not in games. A $5 indie game with an interesting, fun, and unique hook is far more preferable to me than an irrationally expensive ($50+) AAA game with awesome graphics and shitty game play.
Some people are complaining that DLSS5 makes all the graphics look the same, but my complaint is that all the modern AAA games are all the same in game play. They all ran their course in the early 2000s, but they still get pumped out of the assembly line at a record pace. It seems to me that the focus on realistic graphics is because game studios have nothing new to offer.
Just today, I was on the Godot forums looking at a posting by someone looking for "dumb, silly ideas" for a new game. The community members threw out several off-beat ideas that sounded quirky, fun, and totally out of the box. I hope some of them get made, as they could be a welcome deviation from the cookie-cutter productions we see it most popular games.
