  • 1) I can affirm a chase of a dog, by my cat (from "jump after lying flat & repeatedly 'winding' hind legs" position, like at a mouse; when it was probably barely half a year old, so not yet fully "armed"...OTOH: 2.5 month old stray, wandering at least few days, knowing where edible trash is (even if it's a rotting tomato slice, moldy bread, and probably human vomit (undoubtedly spiced with alcohol) behind a bench), quickly finding a hiding under one flagstone in otherwise concrete desert, immediately id

  • How do you do that? I only ever get 5 mod points at a time, though I will admit I get them about once a day.

    • It's an oddity. One time I had five points - moderated, and soon I had 15 more points. Another time I got ten.

      Usually I get 5 points, moderate a few points, and a day or so later get 5 points again. I don't know what is up with getting 10 or 15 points.

        How does that work? I haven't gotten mod points since some time in early 2003, despite regular visits...

        • It seems to be random as all heck. It seems to be connected to meta-modding once in a while, but not too often. But that's just a guess. I don't know. - It doesn't seem to have much to do with posting high-rated comments (if that were the case, I would have mod points every day), or not getting troll mods (or I would never get mod points for the rest of the life of the known universe. I once got the "pink page of death" 3-day troll ban even though my karma was still excellent - I like to think that take

          • I get mod points quite often, usually once every couple of days. I rarely spend them all, and I often login expecting to see "2 mod points" and get 5.

            And it's definitely not related to troll mods, I think the designers of the system must have realised that people weaponize the troll mod if they don't like your opinion...

            • Well, I got another 15 yesterday ... so I'm really at a loss to say what, if anything, helps get mod points.
