A usable desktop OS is a monumental effort and it is getting even more difficult. Only a few of the largest world corporations can accomplish it. Linux OS is not possible, even if all the Linux desktop OS developers would somehow be able to agree and cooperate and work together on one desktop environment, even then it would maybe not be enough.
