Journal sillypixie's Journal: We have a winner... 15

Yes, that's right - I'm in the state of Hawaii, on the island of Kaua'i. Nice work, rk. You were dead-on.

I can't say too much - I'm already retyping this because I decided to use the stupid "Public Terminal" option, and I took too long to compose my entry -- which disappeared as soon as I hit the preview button... grr.

Although we have in-house internet access, I am limited in what I can type. I'm treated like a dangerous offender around the computer. Even now, my hubby is exasperated to see me here typing away, but I am determined to get this JE done before we leave for the day. I'm trying very hard to fit in and to keep my geekiness in the closet, but I'm still not doing a good-enough job.

A few more photos are here.

Hope y'all are having fun where you are...

That was my first thought, but I thought nah, too arid. Blast.
    • The downwind side of the volcanoes can be mighty dry (little orographic rainfall).

Now I have to ask my geologist friend how Hawaii gets this red rock!

      • Well, yeah, I saw the top of Haleakala on Maui, so I was aware of that, I just didn't think ALL the photos would be that if it were Hawaii. I suppose the rainbow wasn't that :-). It certainly was my primary clue of Hawaii.
        • Not all of Kauai has the red rock - just the side we visited that first day (-:

Since then I've decided that everything in Kauai is either red dirt, green foliage, black rock or sand. That's it...

Schweet! I fully intend to take you up on that offer. If you have an email address you can post (and obfuscate to avoid spammer swine) I will gleefully send you my address.

Make sure it's a really wobbly one so I can put it on the dash of my car. I may be road-tripping from Phoenix to Seattle soon and I need a good luck charm/mascot.

        • Excellent! It just so happens that I got the wobbliest one I could find!

You can get me at: (concatenate all words on the next line)

That's my spamfinder account, I don't check it often, so maybe reply here once you've mailed me.

          Cheers,

It is sent. Rock on and thanks much.

I wonder what my wife will think having people sending me wobbly plastic hula girls in the mail...

  • Out of curiosity... What are the current on-island prices for A) a gallon of milk, B) a loaf of bread, C) a gallon of gas, and D) a fresh pineapple?

    I'm guessing A) $4.50, B) $5, C) around $3, and D) 3 for $1.

Your code should be more efficient!
