Submission + - Fully automating Arduino development - Giving Claude Code access to hardware (youtube.com)

ptorrone writes: On the most recent Desk of Ladyada, we shared our experiments with Claude Code, a new large language model (LLM) tool, to streamline hardware development — WAIT WHAT? That's right!. streamline hardware development! We are using it to automate parts of the coding and debugging process for an Arduino-compatible Metro Mini board with an OPT 4048 color sensor. Using Claude Code’s shell access, we can compile, upload, and test code in a semi-automated workflow, allowing the LLM to suggest fixes for errors along the way. The process involves using Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) to bridge hardware interaction gaps, as Claude Code doesn't run natively on Windows yet. While the AI isn’t perfect for high-level driver development, it's proving VERY useful for tedious debugging and super-fast iterative improvements, bringing hardware automation closer to ...reality.

Indeed, or even better the specially moulded earphones that musicans/sound engineers use for live performances. I have a pair of livewires. I bought them because I do a bit of live sound engineering in my spare time, they're a great way of protecting your ears while mixing.

I've found the quality to be great for general listening as well, can have music so much quieter and I can put them in without any music playing and i no longer have to listen to that person on the train that just has to have a phone conversation at the top of their lungs in a foreign language.

This poll broight to mind this which my housemates insist on using to listen to their iPod around the house, I wouldn't mind so much except that they crank the volume right up on both devices and end up with just distorition. I mean it's not like they're listening to Bach or nothing but surely they can hear how they're ruining the music? Apparently not, even after I explained it to them ... there's no accounting for taste eh?

Submission + - Theo de Raadt details Intel Core 2 bugs

Eukariote writes: Recently, Intel patched bugs in its Core 2 processors . Details were scarce, soothing words that a BIOS update was all that was required were spoken. OpenBSD founder Theo de Raadt has now provided more details and analysis on outstanding, fixed, an non-fixable Core 2 bugs. Some choice quotes: "Some of these bugs (...) will *ASSUREDLY* be exploitable from userland code.", "Some of these are things that cannot be fixed in running code, and some are things that every operating system will do until about mid-2008".
