Yes, I'm local. I moved up here to go to the U and never left, so I've lived in the cities for about 8 years now. Up until last year, I lived around 5th and University, only about 5 blocks away from the bridge. I live a little bit north of the city now, but drove over the collapsed bridge on my way to work the morning of the 1st.

...Wondering how many contacts are local as well, I know of a couple...

Journal Journal: Off to get hitched 9

Well, I'm travelling off to another state where I'm going to be getting married this weekend. After that, the fun drive back, hop a plane, and away we go on our honeymoon. Hopefully it all goes off without issue. Whee!

Journal Journal: Posting once a month 2

Jeez. What's up with that? Where's all the time go? I suppose that with a new house, planning for a wedding, a couple business trips and no free time at work, and trying to hang on to something of a social life, there just isn't much time left for anything beyond eating, sleeping, and hygiene. Sorry to anybody that was remotely interested in my ramblings, either here or in other journals. Dead sun just plain hasn't been around.

Journal Journal: For the money 3

Little brings so much joy as those little things that turn one's toilet water blue.

Journal Journal: So, umm, I'm buying a house 2

Yeah, I've been doing a terrible job posting anything I've been doing lately here, haven't I? I mentioned once, a while ago I was looking for a house and now I'm back stating I'm buying one. Imminently.

Journal Journal: DS Lite 3

Well, I pre-ordered one. They're nice looking, I've enjoyed a number of games on the DS that I'd like to own and play at my own pace, and don't own a DS, so why not?

Journal Journal: I've never been so nervous in my life! 9

Who'd have thought that house hunting could be so nerve wracking? Such large amounts of money, tight timelines, and difficult decisions. I can't recall a time I've ever been so tense.

Journal Journal: Kingdom Hearts 2 2

Well, I went and used one of my Christmas gifts, a gift card to GameStop, to subsidise a portion of Kingdom Hearts 2. I started playing over the weekend, and well, when is the last time you've played a game with a three hour introduction/prologue sort of thing?

Journal Journal: People Suck 2

So, I was reading that the gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is to be released tomorrow, purchasable from Amazon as well as Barnes and Noble. I find the whole notion to be interesting for its shadow argument more than anything, but the whole concept is just hilarious. Anybody with any science background can discern it to be an argument wrapped in a joke. Anyhow, reading about this leads me back to the originating site. There we find the hate mail that's been posted online and the impetus fo

Journal Journal: You call that Hi-Fi?! 7

Okay, curious about the new little intel mac mini, I figured I'd stop in and listen to one being put through its paces. I again have decided that the background noise in the store is too loud to make much of a call, but it seemed pretty quiet. I may have to wait until my coworker inevitably purchases one to tell in a quiet room though.

Journal Journal: Ugh, my internet connection [updated] 2

Friday it decides to not work. Well, about 20 Kbits/s down speed when things are going well, still the normal 400 Kbits/s up. Really weird. Saturday things are working again. Sunday we're back to the slowness. Haven't recovered a second time. Time Warner people are scheduled to show up this weekend.

I'm sad by my lack of anything resembling broadband. Most of the time pages won't finish loading. I'm in a rare good chunk, where it seems more like dial up than network problems. Boo.

Journal Journal: Happy Engineers' Week 4

Okay, so it's actually the end of Engineers' Week, but better late than never, right? Hope all my fellow engineers received a little respect and admiration through the week. You certainly deserve it.

Journal Journal: Pizza a la GeckoFood 1

I finally got around to making the pizza recipe that GeckoFood so kindly posted recently. I actually made two of them, across two different nights, for two different groups. Here's what I found out.

Journal Journal: Brrr, winter is here. 6

Yay for subzero (F) temperatures and windchills down towards the -30s. I was starting to think (hope?) we wouldn't get any really cold weather around here this year.
