Comment Escorting out is not about the time... (Score 1) 892

Owning an IT company that does on site service for several mid size businesses, I'd say there is a policy in place with 95% of the companies I service that if an employee gives two weeks notice that they got another job, they are locked out of the system that day, escorted out of the building and given a two week paid vacation(special projects, or unfinished critical business may dictate otherwise). It's not hostile, or angry, and it has nothing to do with trust of the individual employee, it's just good business sense. More than likely they are moving to a similar company, and their heart is now not here. Both of those situations dictate that the risk of loss of IP or just simply paying them to take up oxygen when they may/may not have "Senioritis" is not wise. Getting the new person in place as quickly as possible is a benefit also and your cubicle/computer/parking space is needed for them.

Now NOT paying the employee and escorting them out is bad form on all levels.

I don't think I'll ever understand when people post misleading videos on things like this. Why would we as a society WANT people to hate the system we put in place to maintain law and order? I completely understand if they are actually being abusive... but what purpose is served by making people think the police are MORE abusive than they really are? It just breeds more mistrust, more hatred, more problems. No one would ever want that to happen to them, but it seems so commonplace anymore for people to do it to others.

Yes... exactly. It makes no sense to go to a wider tire and then tip it up to one side so only part of the tread fully touches the pavement while going straight. Unless, you were more concerned with looks than actual performance, and you buy into what the salesman tells you WHICH is most of the younger ricers, soccer moms, and wanna-be playboys in their cars where they offset the performance of their cold air intake and exhaust with huge 20" wheels that weigh 4 times what the originals did and wide tires that drag more.

so... if you're trully concerned with gas mileage, get some really light skinny wheels and skinny tires.

But, since manufacturers have realized that they can spread a bit of misinformation, we get the following 1. Sell someone wider wheels and tires 2. listen to complaints that the customers gas mileage is bad now. 3. Realize and spread the info that negative camber helps gas mileage. 4. Oh, it kills your tires? then now we have special tires that compensate. 5. Sell them the new tires 6. And... the Brooklyn Bridge is for sale if you buy five of them now.

Repeat with cell phones that last less time than the contract, and retire!
