Journal nizo's Journal: Life is like a box of croissants with egg, bacon, and cheese 13

I haven't had one of the egg/bacon/cheese/croissants in a month, but dang these things are good.

Life is most excellent these days; my first art class is being taught by a guy who runs a 2D animation studio in these parts; even if I don't learn anything in class the networking is worth it. Though so far I have gotten to fiddle with a paint I had never heard of, so I am encouraged.

I still haven't figured out what I want to shoot for degree-wise this next spring; whatever I end up pursuing, it is gonna take awhile.

While my personal life is still the shits, at least my job is turning out to be a huge box of awesome.

  • I guess pointing out that you got 2 out of 3 isn't going to be to terribly helpful, is it;-)

I'll be shooting you an email again, hopefully today, probably tomorrow.
  • Seriously, this is the best advice you will get.

Well, I have a pretty good inkling, but it looks like the program I really want is still in the "preliminary" stages. I need to bug an adviser soon and see what the real status is.

      • Well, sometimes you can design your own program - an example being someone I knew who got a degree in environmental economics, or some of the new schools here at the UW that are literally in the creation stage.

Yeah, ultimately I may end up doing a "University Studies" program or somesuch; basically it is a build-your-own degree program. Considering I have something like 140 hours of credit from various places, this might be the quickest way to a degree... :-) Though at this point, since classes are free, speed isn't really an issue; learning useful stuff and networking is way more important.

          • You could also get a Doctorate in Philosophy, that's what most of the Biochemists here do who discover cures for malaria or how tuberculosis infects cells.

            (not a joke)

God, how much can I second this? I majored in systems analysis (sort of the bastard love child from a kinky 3-way between business management, statistics and computer science programs), but unlike most of my classmates, only took the required minimum of classes in my major. So instead, I took electronic music, two years of music theory and composition, classical guitar, and only missed a music minor by 3 hours and a recital requirement (my chops aren't that good). My major also required a specialization a
