Submission + - Russia announces it will create core of new space station by 2030 (reuters.com)

Baron_Yam writes: Despite its domestic space program faltering even before sanctions due to its invasion of Ukraine and at least one very public failure on a less ambitious project, Russia has announced it will begin construction of a Russian-only replacement for the ISS, and place it in a more difficult to access polar orbit.

Russia is motivated by military and political demands to achieve this, but whether it has the means or not seems uncertain at best.

Southwest is still flying high, unaffected by the outage that’s plaguing the world today, and that’s apparently because it’s using Windows 3.1.

Watergate "Deep Throat" Mark Felt Dead At 95 126

Mark Felt Sr., 95, associate director of the FBI during the Watergate scandal, better known as 'Deep Throat,' the most famous anonymous source in American history, died at his home in Santa Rosa, California. Felt secretly guided Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein to pursue the story of the 1972 break-in of the Democratic National Committee's headquarters at the Watergate office buildings, and later of the Nixon administration's campaign of spying and sabotage against its perceived political enemies. 'It's impossible to exaggerate how high the stakes were in Watergate,' wrote Felt in his 2006 book A G-Man's Life. 'We faced no simple burglary, but an assault on government institutions, an attack on the FBI's integrity, and unrelenting pressure to unravel one of the greatest political scandals in our nation's history.' No one knows exactly what prompted Felt to leak the information from the Watergate probe to the press. He was passed over for the post of FBI director after Hoover's death in 1972, a crushing career disappointment. 'People will debate for a long time whether I did the right thing by helping Woodward. The bottom line is that we did get the whole truth out, and isn't that what the FBI is supposed to do?'"

no faith - better known as Atheism.
Faith means a lot of things, so if you are a Atheist( I am one ), it's better to use phrases like,
"I have faith, I've just not invested it in God and the divine."
or
"I have faith in the love and trust of my best friend, in the of good mankind"
or
"I have faith in that things are gonna turn out just dandy!"
You get the picture. When you say "no faith" to a religious person they will hear you admit to the complete absence of a soul, conscience, morals etc. etc. Coincidently, this is how many of my fellow atheist friends view religious people.

ESRB Responds to 3D Realms' Kvetching 90

Via GamePolitics, an article at the Hollywood Reporter site on the ESRB's snappy comeback to 3D Realms. You may recall Scott Miller (3D Realms' co-founder) saying a short while back that he viewed the ESRB's smackdown as a 'sucker punch'. The Reporter article lays out the ESRB's response, courtesy of the board's president Patricia Vance: "It's unfortunate that Mr. Miller's feelings were hurt, but let's be clear ... The ESRB is the self-regulatory body for the video game industry. We were established by the industry and we simply enforce the rules and guidelines that the industry has imposed upon itself. The games industry determined that there should be rules with regard to the proper display of rating information and that ESRB should enforce those rules by notifying companies who are not in compliance ... Unfortunately, due to 3D Realms' lack of experience submitting games to the ESRB, it would appear that they were unaware of the various industry guidelines in place and the consequences of not complying with those guidelines."
