My first thought. They must have close to 100 million customers. So this works out to about ten cents per customer. Wow, that's some punitive fine! Just another example of how "capture theory" is the norm in the US these days. The FDA is captured by Big Pharma. The SEC is captured by Wall Street. And the FCC is captured by the Big Carriers.

mine oldest but still valide is an Apple notebook, aluminium, Intel 2008. Long ago I maxed the RAM , put SSD in it, and I switched to Ubuntu ; I changed batteries twice (with chinese replacements... Apple won't sell me anything) but they do not work well; so currently it is mostly a desktop machine, used by my chilldren for homework, web browsing, social networks, casual gaming.

Besides, UEFI is a bad idea done badly.

I always assumed that the real reason why UEFI was introduced, was to preserve Microsoft's monopoly by attempting to destroy the ability to dual boot operating systems on PC hardware, while also giving it just enough superficial flashing lights, that excuses would be made for it as "innovation," by the same group of treasonous idiots who think that systemd deserves to exist.
